We visited Mia Bistro on a Saturday night for my husband’s birthday. We were seated after 45 minutes waiting after being told that we could not reserve a table when called in advance. Being vegetarians, our instructions were VERY SPECIFIC to the server to make sure that there is no mix up. The summer spring rolls with tofu were a safe bet as it’s plain and simple. We ordered main course after discussing with server to make sure no egg, meat or any fish sauce would be used in the dishes we wished to order. The pineapple fried rice was nice, pad Thai and pad see ew we ordered with tofu but the order received had egg in it. The server apologized and took it back. After 5 minutes not so appealing pad Thai was sent , it tasted like a tamarind sauce overload and undercooked, the manager confronted us by asking if we ever ate pad Thai in our life when I politely told her that we did not like how it tasted. She took it back. Then came the pad see ew, it was ok but not great. We are foodies and owned a restaurant. We know the food and the business. We expected a little courtesy but were served cold and rude behavior. Never going back! And we were charged for the pad Thai we did not eat at all.. they should seriously consider upping their hospitality for they are in food business. I’m for one never...
Read moreSo happy to have a new restaurant to eat at in Garner!
Walked in and the entrance was lovely. Flowers hanging from the ceiling, a small seating area, the podium where the host stands. We were greeted by the host and we were asked if there was a a particular place we'd like to sit, we opted for a booth.
We started with some spring rolls. Nice flavor, crispy shell, sweet chili Thai sauce for dipping. For lunch, I ordered Pad Thai and my sister ordered Pad Kee Mao. They do not skimp on the portion sizes here. They brought out two loaded plates and both were amazing. The Pad Thai was sweet and savory, plenty of shrimp, I'm extremely happy they put the crushed peanuts in the side rather than sprinkling them across the top. The Pad Kee Mao was wonderful, my sister took the leftovers home and said they were better the next day due to the flavors just soaking into the noodles.
Service was pretty slow. We sat for over 45 minutes waiting for the food and the restaurant was pretty empty but overall, I would say the food was worth it. It is a pretty limited menu here so I do suggest giving the menu a glance over before heading in to make sure they'll have...
Read moreThis is a fairly new Thai restaurant in Garner, NC. I LOVE Thai food but this food was disappointing. It is beautifully presented, and portions are generous.
I had the snapper and the fish was so tough I had to struggle hard to cut it and it was unpalatable. The sauce with it was good so I ate the rice with sauce and some of the vegetables that were included (broccoli and carrots and onion). I have never had tough fish before and have had Thai fried fish many times and it has always been delicious. This was a huge disappointment especially given the price which was approximately $20.
The pork belly which we had as an appetizer was good but inconsistent. Some pieces were tender and crispy, others barely chewable and very fatty. The sauce which came with it was delicious, flavorful and sweet.
The coconut cake dessert was very different and quite good.
The friends who came with me all had dishes they liked, so hopfully if you steer clear of the fish, you will enjoy your meal.
Expect to spend about $25 per meal with dessert, not including beverage. The service was...
