Cocina Hidlago — Restaurant in Gastonia

I went in on Saturday to have a nice dinner with a friend first they had no chips didn’t understand it being a Mexican restaurant, and the waitress was very friendly and we ordered the suggested item off the menu which was fajitas I received mine but the rice and beans were ice cold as if it just came out of the refrigerator. The meal itself was OK. I waited before I started eating so my friend could have his meal. It didn’t come so I started eating after 30 minutes I asked for the manager she finally came out and so did the meal with the waitress. The manager was kind but full of excuses. I really want this place to succeed. I like to patronize restaurants in my neighborhood, but they really need to step it up. The Mexican restaurant down the street was packed and we chose this one just so that we can give it some business even though she gave me a discount on my ticket that wasn’t what I wanted. I want a good dining experience I seldom write reviews but this one really needed it. I wish them the best. I hope they can make it and they use this advice to their advantage but I don’t think...

I have been watching this place ever since I saw them put up the sign.

Since their opening, they have yet to disappoint. The food here is fresh, innovative, and new.

In G-town, there is very limited choices for authentic Mexican food. However, this place puts many to shame. With choices like gorditas, sopes, caldos, pozole, and tacos, and forgot to mention that all tortillas are handmade ; this place puts authenticity to the next level.

Not just that but this place is 24/6.

Final remarks: I have consistently been coming to this restaurant day in and day out. Go now! Get off your couch! Go and eat some comida bomba!

The tamales were on point. Cheese dip was basically a bowl of melted cheese. Pico was mostly mid level spicy with an occasional scorching bite. Mild salsa was great. Very polite, attentive service. Cleanliness could have been better. They seemed to be vacuuming the entire time I was there, but the bathroom wasn't getting the attention it needed in a big way, and there was concealed salsa stuck to the table top. Bottom line, fantastic food, fantastic service, and some cleanliness opportunities. To me, the trade for a place to enjoy a meal while I study late at night or early in the morning...
