Our First Visit to The Green Rooster — Honest Thoughts
We finally got the chance to try The Green Rooster , a place we’d heard really great things about. It was actually the first spot we looked up when deciding to explore some new local places, so we were genuinely excited.
We arrived around 10:30 AM, still during breakfast hours, because we really wanted to try their biscuits and gravy—which were written right on the blackboard next to the window. But when we asked, we were told they weren’t available. That was disappointing, especially since they were still being advertised.
There was a visible menu posted, but there’s no speaker box at the order spot. So we couldn’t place an order right away or ask questions without pulling forward. That made it tough to figure out what else they had, and when I mentioned I wasn’t sure what food options were available, the young lady at the window didn’t really offer any suggestions or guidance.
My husband ordered a large S’mores latte, and I got a White Mocha latte. We also found out at the window that they don’t offer any drinks in frappe form, which was something we had been looking forward to trying. You can add ice for $1.00, which I thought was a bit strange—most places offer that as a basic option, not an add-on.
The total for just our two drinks came to $16, which felt like a lot—especially since, shortly after, we visited another local café and got two frappe drinks plus two sandwiches for only $20.33.
Taste-wise: • My White Mocha latte was really good! I just wish there was a bit more ice in it, especially since I paid the extra $1. • My husband’s S’mores latte sadly didn’t live up to the hype. It mostly tasted like watered-down chocolate, and he had heard it was one of their best.
That being said—we’re not writing them off. We understand that places can have off days, or certain staff might still be learning. We’ll definitely be giving The Green Rooster coffee Co another shot, and I’ll make sure to post an update when we do.
For now, though, I have to be honest—our first experience was underwhelming. But we’re hopeful that next time will be better and more in line with what we’ve heard from others.
