SERIOUSLY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. My table of four was refused service last week because the manager accused two of us of trying to use fake IDs!! I posted a bad review a week ago hoping for some sort of response from the staff. I want, at the very least, an apology for the mistake, since they unjustly accused me and my friend of criminal activity, embarrassed my table in front of the entire restaurant, and forced us to leave without any discussion. The manager tried to keep our IDs, but a server eventually snuck them out of the back for us because we told multiple staff that we legally couldn’t drive home without a license. We should have called the police in this situation.. I’m still kicking myself for not doing so! I can’t find words to express how incredibly frustrating and troubling it is that I was treated this way and no one has responded to my review or our complaint email after a week. In the future please find a competent manager who knows how to properly identify michigan state IDs, or at the very least GET A SCANNER. This is unacceptable and I demand a response from somebody after the absolutely garbage treatment I received from the manager. The only thing I can do until then is continue to put this information out there so everyone knows that the people who run this place don’t care about the customer experience. Don’t bother going to this Peppino’s unless you want your night ruined. This location says they’re independently owned, so hopefully the other locations of the same name are still safe to visit. Peppino’s in Jenison should seriously be avoided. Don’t give them your business!
Edit: I somewhat appreciate the apology, even though nobody acknowledged that my main concern was not that I was refused drinks. I can understand being cautious, mostly I was upset about the way my friends and I were treated like delinquents and kicked out when there was nothing we could’ve possibly done different, we can’t help the way our state IDs look! BTW, it is not slander to share my honest experience. Glad the police are working on this, though it shouldn’t be...
Read moreWe sat at the bar. We got drinks served pretty quickly had some good back and forth and checked out the menu. After watching for a bit it seemed the bartender was overwhelmed. I honestly thought that she was new. Then I overheard her telling another patron she had been there for three years. It took a minute to put our food order in, for her to ask us if we wantedvto order. Then we waited for about a half hour for sandwiches that were lukewarm once served. The onion rings and sweet potato fries tasted like they were fried in dirty oil. It wasn't a horrible time but I go to restaurants to eat and so we probably won't come back. The food was yuck. The service was good, but not ok enough to make up for lukewarm and dirty food. Sorry.
In response to your reply: I would suggest a taste test check of the oil as you may be getting billed for the maintenance but I assure you the fried food tasted dirty. It gave me no pleasure to write that comment and I haven't encountered that exact erm essence before but I tried my partner's fries and they were equally as unappealing. We didn't have time to speak with a manager and didn't even want to take time to request the military discount you offer because the bartender was doing like 5 different jobs. It wasn't her fault she was so busy but there were other employees there and I find it hard to believe that 2 servers and a bartender couldn't efficiently handle 3 people at the bar, 2 more came in shortly before we received our food, a 3-top and 3 other 2-tops. Half of which had been there since we walked in. The bartender was serving everyone at the bar, and 2 tables. It just shouldn't have been my issue that yall were busier.... furthermore it sounds like had I talked to a manager it I would have been offered excuses. I'm just writing an honest review so someone else knows what could happen on a Monday afternoon. I don't want a refund or other food, I just want to not have had the issue in the first place and for other people to know without having to experience it themselves. Thanks for...
Read morenot veteran friendly. I wish I could select 0 stars for my family experience this afternoon. My wife and I and 2 kids under 4. We arrived at 4:45 and restaurant was about 50% full. The server brought my kids drinks out and it took the bar 15 min to make my whiskey sour. We placed our appetizer order for breadsticks and fried pickles and it took 30 minutes to receive after watching a later table seated receive their appetizer. Meanwhile our kids are very hungry and upset. After the appetizer came it took another 30 minutes for out chicken wings and buttered noodles for the kids. All pretty quick meals right? Our neighbor tables already got their meals. I got to enjoy a table of cocky service members which I understand, I was one too. But the wait staff spent long periods of time at their table and paid no attention to us. I myself am an Army veteran from 2009-2012. Once our entrees came I had to box them up and leave because our kids and us lost patience. After mentioning this to our server all he could say was “sorry it took too long for you”. I voiced all of this to the manager and all that was done was a promise to mention this to wait staff. Never a thank you for your service, sorry this happened. Anything. I will...
