I stopped by this place the other day to get my boyfriend dinner. I came in to order the turkey wings rice and gravy and macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese still had 30 minutes to be in the oven. I literally had nothing to do so I told the owner that I will wait in my car. Before I left I noticed there was a guy in there helping do advertisement for the future of the restaurant I thought that was pretty cool so I sat there and watched. Just pleased to see two black businesses working together getting their businesses known and keeping business going. I came back and they told me that it was still a few minutes on the macaroni which I gave them extra time before I actually came back into the store. To make up for my wait he offered me a lemonade and a extra macaroni and cheese so that I could compare it to my own because only my boyfriend was getting food. Even though I had to wait I can I really appreciate great customer service he took care of the customer because of the circumstance. The restaurant was very very clean and he was very very professional. That means more to me...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend went in to see what they had because we had not been here before but we wanted soul food. The older woman working asked us if we were ready to order, we said “no we’re still trying to decide”, as I said, we hadn’t been there before. We were trying to look up pictures to see what the food looked like since their website wasn’t working. Again, we were asked “are you ready yet?”. We responded “no not yet”. Why did the lady for a third time ask us “do yall know what yall want now or yall just sitting there?” Me and my boyfriend looked up confused because we were genuinely just indecisive on what we wanted. She then proceeded to say “what are yall really doing in here?” Immediately my boyfriend asked if it was an issue that we were sitting while trying to decide but then said “it’s alright, we’ll leave”. The expression on the lady’s face was very unwelcoming and because of this interesting & quite weird interaction, we will not be back to...
Read moreVisiting in town and Googled restaurants near me. My friend wanted Soul Food so we decided to try this restaurant; we were well pleased. We ordered a lot to choose from and eat on for two days. We order fried chicken whole wings with rice and gravy and kale greens, turkey wings with mac n cheese and candied yams, and oxtails with cabbage and collards. The candied yams were not too sweet and paired greatly with the mac n cheese. We loved the kale better than the collards, though both were good. Might mix them next time. Fried chicken was seasoned just right. Only suggestions might be to try to limit the grease when pouring the oxtail gravy over the rice and add some green leaves to the cabbage; it was all white. And those little cornbread muffins tasted like home but wish they were bigger or maybe give two.
Overall we were extremely satisfied. Service was great and atmosphere was fine since this is a to-go spot only. We...
