Warning!!! They tried to scam me! I would never stay here again.
I don’t usually leave reviews but felt like I needed to for this hotel. Me and my family with small children booked a night here to stay for one night as we were passing through to go to Florida. I called the hotel a week before and booked a room for us. When I arrived that night they told me that I booked two rooms (even though on my confirmation email and my confirmation number said I booked one room only!) I told them I never made that second reservation and have no info confirming that I booked a second room. I Showed the front desk lady who was very nice my confirmation email and she agreed that I didn’t make that reservation and would cancel but a refund had to be handled by the manager. The manager was not there and didn’t even come in after a couple phone calls to handle it. I had to call back after we had already left to get on the road to Florida. The manager told me that I made that reservation and would not refund me my money. He said he would lose revenue if I was refunded. I told him I never made that reservation and shouldn’t be charged for it and referred him to my confirmation email that said I had booked one room. The manager was extremely rude and very unhelpful and without saying I was a liar inferred I was lying about booking a room and said no to a refund. He told me why would his staff book a room if I didn’t reserve it and I would say I don’t know why but why would I reserve two rooms when I don’t need it? And also have no proof of the second reservation and neither did he. When I asked for the corporate number, he refused to help me at that point.
So I called corporate for the hotel and after being on hold and being transferred back and forth that took a whole day of my vacation, the first customer service person I talked to said since the hotel goes through their own billing process, they said they couldn’t make the hotel give me a refund and said they could give me some points (not even enough to book another night somewhere else) I said that was Unacceptable and wanted my money back for a room I didn’t book and didn’t use. I kept asking for proof that I booked that second room and they sent me the bill the hotel billed me. I said that only proves that they charged me for a second room. I told them to resend the confirmation email and confirmation number like I got for the first room and they couldn’t because it didn’t exist.I eventually asked to speak to their manager and got transferred to a escalation specialist and within minutes they found out that the hotel had booked another room under my name the same day we had come in and not the week before when I booked my other room! He said it was unacceptable the hotel did that and promised to send me a refund for that one room and should receive it within one to four days and as of now which is the fourth day…I still haven’t received it and will have to call tomorrow yet again. it has been a very long and frustrating ordeal. I hope this helps someone along the way. I will never stay at this chain of hotels again nor any other of the hotels that are in the Choice Hotel chain.
If you do still choose this hotel, I would definitely do the booking through a third party like Expedia and not do the booking through the hotel. That way if they try and scam you, Expedia will handle all of it and you get an...
Read moreThis hotel desperately needs an overhaul…and possibly new management. So while traveling to Savannah, GA, my wife and I decided to book a room in Marietta for one night to break up the drive. My family and I arrived at this hotel a little after 3 a.m. after already being on the road for over 8 hours. Also, it rained pretty heavily the entire drive. So you can imagine how exhausted we all were. We get to the hotel and check in and get to our room. My wife is unhappy because the room is filthy. The fridge was dirty and moldy, the bed covers were stained and filthy…it was unacceptable. So I take the comforter downstairs back to the front desk and ask if they have a clean one. I can’t allow my wife and 2 year old daughter to sleep on this bed. He says they don’t have any additional comforters, but he moves us to a different room just a few doors down. When we get to this room, the same conditions exist, The fridge is a moldy, stinking disaster and the bed is FILTHY. My wife discovers that this bed is also unacceptable…and has just decided that she wants to go to someplace else. It’s almost 4 a.m. at this point. We had a lot of things that we brought in and already moved in the initial check in, and then had to move all of it to another room. I’m exhausted, she’s exhausted, and of course the baby is exhausted, but we grab all of our things and head out. I took one of the pillows with me to the front desk and showed it to the service attendant. I told him that the evidence on this pillow, which was several strains of hair, were proof to me that the bed had not been changed from the previous guest. It had just been made up. I then told him that we were checking out and requested a full refund of my points, since that is how I initially booked the room. He didn’t apologize for any of the inconvenience, AND he did not take the necessary steps to refund my points. I ultimately had to contact Choice to get my points refunded. I caution ANYONE AND EVERYONE if you plan on booking a stay at this hotel. It’s not worth your time or energy. Find someplace else to go. We ended up going to the Double Tree across the street and were able to get a peaceful nights rest. Trust me, this review doesn’t come close to painting the picture of how bad this hotel and experience was. I wish it were possible to give it a negative star rating…because that’s what...
Read moreJane, at the front desk was great. The breakfast was good, nothing extra but good -- the food wasn't kept hot enough in the trays, only 2 slots of the 4 slice toaster worked, but the waffle maker turned out good waffles. And that's all the good I can say..
The property is aging and is very much under-cared and uncared for. I have photos if there is a place coming up in this review to post them. But, in case, I will list them:
Torn and worn carpet. Stained cushions on the couch. Torn vinyl on the desk chair, exposing the padding. Underneath the sofa/couch was an accumulation of months of filth -- Q-tips, dust piled up, scraps of food, a dirty sock, and a cellphone charger. I told Jane, but the cleaning people never came.
No photo, but the air conditioner worked poorly. We had a king suite and in the bedroom, the temperature never reached below 74 -- we like a colder bedroom. In the sitting area it was cooler, but I called maintenance, they set the thermostat to 67 to try to get the temperature down and it got to 73 once, but when we came back in the room it went back up to 75. This was a thermostat, wall-mounted control. The first of our two nights in the room, water dripped all night from the overhead vent near the bathroom, soaking the floor and our feet. The second night it continued to leak but we put a bath towel on the floor.
Across the hall (Room 205 -- we were in 204) our son and his family had an air conditioner that worked. It was regular in-wall unit with a traditional window unit control.
In the bathroom there is no place to hang bath towels, hand towels, or wash cloths. So I dusted, yes dusted, the top of the shower bar and hung the bath towels over it. There are no hand-holds in the shower area, and the floor, while not completely smooth, did not have a sufficient grip surface.
The shower curtain was ripped at one end, and the sheer curtains in the bedroom had an even worse tear.
I give the property a "1" because that is the lowest number on the offered scale, and a "0" would be too high a score. We won't return and to anyone who asks, I will make this review, and the photos (hope I can post...
