Have been a boasting customer for a decade, but I'll never grace them with my presence again! EVER! I'm not waiting for a 3rd strike - 2 and you're OUT! My family eats here at least once a week for dinner and once a week for lunch for the last decade. For years we've raved over the experience. My daughter and I visit this location often because we love their Parrilla margarita. We order a medium size and it's made strong enough that we notice the buzz before the liquid level drops an inch in the glass. They last us throughout the entire meal and have to slurp the last bit before leaving. Last night, we were seated at a table in a cold corner of the bar section (clearly overflow) at patio tables and plastic patio chairs. We ordered our usual queso with 2 16 oz Parrilla margaritas. We noticed we were finished with the drink before dinner arrived and wasn't even giddy. Really? I spoke to the manager and she told us she couldn't make another without charging us and she couldn't offer discount on alcohol, but would discount the food. My daughter and I decided to go ahead and order another as long as they knew we expected them to have alcohol in them. I realize now we should have told them to stuff their 2nd drink and stuff their inability to credit us back for drinks that didn't have any alcohol in them. When we got the ticket we found she had knocked off $2.50 off the queso. Seriously... We both ordered $10. meals and a large bowl of queso and for $25. of lousy drinks she gave us $2.50 back? We wound up paying $25. for a 16 oz margarita. - The first strike was Christmas Eve. I called Wednesday before Christmas and asked for a quote for a tray of 36 enchiladas. I was quoted $50. When we added our guest list we decided we didn't need that many so I placed an order for 18 enchiladas (based on the quote of $50 for 36.) We stopped in to have 2 of those margaritas and some chips and queso when we were to pick up the enchiladas for Christmas dinner. They charged me $60.00 for 18 enchiladas. WHAT? I asked to speak to the manager who quoted me. He supposedly checked his records and didn't find a quote. I said we spoke on Wednesday and even showed him a text that I sent to my daughter directly after speaking with him with the amount he quoted. He refused to stand by his quote, but discount the $60.00 by $5.00. We've found a better place to spend our money in Hiram. The restaurant directly in front of Sams. They have AMAZING margaritas and their food is bomb. I'll never grace the door step of La Parrilla...
Read moreBe careful if you pay with cash here. I was a waitress for 6 years and I have never seen anything this dishonest.
I went with a couple of other people on a weekday during a lunch rush. Considering how busy it was, we got everything in a fairly prompt manner. The food was excellent. My only problem was the waitress.
From the start, she was very fake. I don't know if she was just having a bad day or if I reminded her of someone she hated but it was pretty easy to see through her facade. She was like this with every exchange with me, but I just shrugged the bad vibes off and didn't think much of it. Everything progressed normally.
When it came time to get our checks, everyone got theirs except for me. She looked confused and then went to go print mine off. She came back, gave me mine and went to go process the others. She returned with the others, and I gave her mine. I was paying with cash. The only money I had on me was a 50 dollar bill, so I gave her that. It was for a 9 something dollar tab. We were all waiting on my check, she came back about 5 minutes later and with completely wrong change.
My change was supposed to be for $40.09, and she gave me $30 even, no coins or anything. I looked around for her and she was standing next to the computers talking to another waiter. I went up to her and said that I was supposed to get $40, not $30, spreading out my money so she could clearly see what I was talking about. She decides to (very obviously) play dumb and just kept saying, "Yeah" and pointing to my money. Her demeanor did not sit right with me at all.
After politely but firmly repeating myself three times, and physically counting out my money for her, she finally fakes an "Oh", looks at the other waiter, who gives her a $10 to give to me. I didn't even bother with the 9 cents she still owed me. She knew exactly what I was talking about, it was extremely obvious that she had tried to cheat me.
Despite her insulting dishonesty, I handed her a $3 tip (which would be +30% on my $9 something tab) to show her that she didn't have to try to rip people off to get even a decent tip. As a former waitress, I can always sympathize with servers. However, even if one were to give her the benefit of the doubt, that poor of math and money-handling skills is just completely inexcusable, especially at a popular restaurant like...
Read moreI came here for my Birthday, and never again. I gave it two stars because the food was decent and our waiter was very nice. I called ahead twice to see the wait on a table for 18 and they said it about a 40 minute wait from when I arrived and they didn’t do reservations. I said okay, I arrived a little before 7 and they told me it would be 30-40 mins. I ended up waiting over an hour and a half, while I watched plenty of others who had just arrived get seated rather quickly. (Including a party of about 15 ) I was told that we might have to be seated at 2 different tables, which I imagined were gonna be right by each other. When we were finally about to be seated the hostess prepared one single table for all of us. The manager then stops her and tells her that we cannot be seated together and to separate us. This not only caused us to wait an additional 10 minutes, but it also resulted in half my party being seated across the restaurant. At this point I’m highly upset, so I call the manager over and she tells me, with the nastiest attitude, that it’s due to policy and there’s nothing she can do. Mind you, I just saw her seat a party of more than 10 about 40 minutes earlier. (A sports team of white girls) She never apologized and her waiter and waitresses had more professionalism and customer service skills than she ever could. Finally our waiter just ended up seating us together, I told him to call her back over, but she never came. Moral of the story, don’t come here if you have a party of over 10, or if you’re not white. We were the only people waiting and coincidentally we were the only people of color in the restaurant. This is a Mexican restaurant that caters to white Americans, not...
