Sad to say West Cobb Diner won’t be my go to place in West Cobb anymore. I had my typical Reuben sandwich cause I don’t wanna make them myself nor do I wanna get fresh sauerkraut. Besides the prices going up beyond what’s reasonable the portions are going down. And to be charged a fee to use a debit card with the last straw on this visit. Even got just a general number without a breakdown. Had to ask for it. It was told it’s on the computer. I want to see what I bought and what it was charged. It appears the new owners are getting too aggressive with the bottom line and even though it was right after the Rush, it was wide open. I have a feeling it’s gonna continue that way. I miss Loren and Chad. If I were the new owners, I would take a serious look at what they’re trying to do with this restaurant. Value always wins. There’s a consistent theme with West Cobb diner food is outstanding and the servers are exceptional. Had the pleasure of Kinley taking care of us today for lunch and she was delightful and very engaging. My favorite local place in West Cobb and probably Cobb County. Have lunch with some of my CLC buddies and had a delicious fish tacos and Brittany took care of us. Great food and outstanding service. Good job Lauren and Chef May not be the best kept secret in West Cobb anymore. The food is outstanding. The best tomato pie on the planet the Reuben sandwich it is out of this world and if you don't want to go into Buckhead and eat at a Jewish deli this is the place to have one in West Cobb. Visited on a Thursday at lunch and the place was full. We opted to sit at the bar to avoid the wait. The service was good, and if it was evening we would have ordered some beer and wine. But being midday and too much left to do - well, you know how it goes. My wife had a chicken salad. She said it was good but the size of it would have qualified it for Elaine's "Big Salad" on Seinfeld. I had the club sandwich, sort of a chicken combo on ciabatta bread (or something like it). It also was huge. It was cut in half and still looked like 2 complete sandwiches. I guess i was thinking more along the lines of sliced chicken or turkey club sandwich. Instead this was more like a fried chicken sandwich with a bit extra. I couldn't finish it, but it was good. I guess we need to start considering splitting some of this huge portions that are served not only here but in other restaurants. But really, no complaints about the quality. Large portions are what many folks want, I suppose. The one real downside was when I stopped by the bathroom on the way out. It was filthy. You could not reach the urinal without stepping through a wet mess. The stall workmanship looked amateurish with a drain that looked like a neighbors weekend project. I was wiping my feet on anything I could on the way out.

Ate here for sit-down dinner with my boyfriend and our server Benjamin was firing on cylinders. The moment our drinks were emptied, he was there to refill them in quick order. For our order, we got a quesadilla for an appetizer and were overwhelmed by the size (it's honestly large enough to serve as a fine budget entree). BF got the patty melt with fries and onion rings; I got the Grandma's Glazed Meatloaf (a pair of zesty fist-sized meatballs) with mashed potatoes (was surprised to be given a choice of white or brown gravy, I got brown), which I was further surprised to discover contained some of the potato skin inside (this not a complaint, i appreciated the additional texture) and also the best red beans and rice I've ever had in my life. Everything was so filling that I regretted not being able to eat more; we had no room for dessert. About the only detractor to the meal was seeing a customer wearing a red baseball cap sporting a serial felon's name but that's not really within the control of this amazing diner.

Wow, this has gone sharply downhill in the last 2 months. Slow, slow, slow food and service. Decreased quality in some dishes. Increased kids menu prices by 150%. Some unhelpful staff and a rude owner. What happened?? Tonight in particular was a total disaster. We waited a total of 1:33 for a table and food. 4 of 6 meals were wrong. I ended up not being able to eat because of the extreme delay and incorrect food, and when I told the server that the owner came to our table and was sarcastic and rude.

It started with the wait. On the phone we were told there was a 5 minute wait. It ended up being 35 minutes, while we watched other later arrivals seated first. As soon as we sat down, I ordered a kids meal for the young child with us. 5 minutes later we ordered for the adults, and then sat...and sat...with no food, and no one checking on us, for 25 minutes. 30 minutes after ordering a kids meal, and hailing someone who looked like a manager to ask about the poor kid, I get - "Fried food is taking a long time tonight". 18 minutes later his chicken tenders showed up. 1 hour and 33 minutes after arrival, and 45 minutes after ordering. It was also wrong, they included the wrong side that he is allergic to. This is unacceptable for a child's meal. The shrimp and grits arrived - oops! No it didn't - they were suddenly out of grits and only told the server as they were bringing it. The funniest part is that my salad (aka not fried) came out last, several minutes after the rest of the fried and baked food. It was also incorrect. 4 of our 6 meals were incorrect. By that time it was 9:35 pm. I had no time to wait for a new order with a small child who was now tired and hungry. I sent the incorrect salad back and requested a refund for it.

At that time the owner came out. She apologized and offered me a new meal, which I couldn't accept because I did not have time. She pulled the ticket and saw that supposedly our ticket had been put in at 9:01 pm. This was well after we ordered. I asked her to check what time the kids meal had been put in, and she realized that it was ordered with everything else. She had no explanation or apology for this. She told my family that our order was done in a reasonable time. I checked my message history to look at the times we ordered (I was texting my husband). I realized that the order time was incorrect by a lot. She grew irritated and sarcastic with us. She offered to comp our meal, which we told her three times we did not want. We pay for what we eat, and have been here many times. I don't want free food, I want the service issues fixed. Tonight I left hungry, with no food, at 9:41, with an overtired and hungry small child in tow. I'd love the enjoyable local restaurant back the way it was. After the owner's attitude and two negative experiences in a month... I'm not sure we will be back.

8:00 arrival, supposedly 5 minute wait 8:35 seated at table 8:40 kids order placed 8:45 adult order placed 9:01 owner claims the ticket was put in. 9:05 we ask about kids order 9:33 food came out 9:41 I leave with no food

Previous review: Huge portions, great prices and great food! It's a little loud inside, partly because it's so full. Wide variety of items on the menu. Great kids...

Once again I found myself scrambling for a pet friendly patio. What I found was a slightly discombobulated host who forgot the patio wasn't open and that they were under staffed. While this sounds like a disaster in the making, it turned out just fine. They opened the patio, found a server, and provided a very nice experience. Shrimp and grits...yeah, my companion can never resist. They didn't say much about the dish. They also stopped just shy of licking the bowl. My companion is very picky, and I've seen an entire plate pushed away virtually untouched, so I have to conclude that West Cobb Diner passed muster on this dish. It certainly looked good and was beautifully presented. I opted for a Ruben with fries. The fries were golden brown, perfectly crunchy outside and delightfully creamy on the inside. No catsup required! The rye bread was toasted. There was a near perfect balance between corned beef and cheese and sauerkraut. Pup approved of the fries. She probably would have approved the sandwich, but it was too good to share. She had to content herself with showing out for the patron sitting at the window. Two issues. While I understand being short-staffed, I also understand that focusing becomes even more important. My server never provided, nor asked, if we needed condiments such as catsup, etc. Even though I had a sandwich, I was only provided one napkin. She offered more tea, but by the time she brought it, I was pretty much finished and ready to leave. Under the circumstances, not a deal breaker. Any other time, however, it would be. The second issue was the ladies restroom. It really needed a good, deep scrub. I do not generally wig about floors or tables, especially when an establishment is clearly busy. But a dirty restroom...

Google Review for West Cobb Diner

Visited on November 29th.

We walked in expecting a good experience, but unfortunately, it fell short. We were barely greeted by the group of four staff members at the podium. A young lady hurried us to a dirty booth until I requested a different table. After two minutes, a man took our drink orders (Sprite, hot water with lemon, and iced water). While we were looking over the menu, another man approached us, asking if we were ready to order, informing us that the kitchen was closing soon. When I asked for the exact closing time, he replied, “now.” This was confusing as other tables were still enjoying their meals.

Our waiter, seemingly unaware of any kitchen closing, took our orders for a shrimp basket and a spicy po’boy special. There was confusion over the sides; we weren’t informed about additional charges for substitutions, like the mac and cheese. The fries were okay, but the po’boy was disappointing with stale bread and lacking spice. I ended up eating the shrimp with a fork, which was the only part I enjoyed. My daughter liked the shrimp but found the mac and cheese mediocre.

Throughout our meal, staff members sat at the bar, some wiping down tables and putting chairs up. New customers were turned away, being told the restaurant was closed. Our bill included a charge for a tea we never ordered. Though I mentioned it and assumed it was removed, it remained on the final bill along with extra charges for the side substitutions.

Despite the waiter being nice and in training, the overall rushed service and mediocre food were disappointing. I tipped 18% for the waiter’s effort, but the experience left much to be desired. I understand it was the day after a holiday, but I wish we had received...
