I’ve ordered twice from here and each time was a horrible experience! The first time was for my own birthday and whoever I talked to said that they would be able to do the cake for me. I even came in to taste test some of their flavors! I placed this order in February with my birthday being in May, so they had plenty of time to get the cake ready. I call the day before my birthday and whoever answered said that my order was never taken down and they do not even do the kind of cake I wanted. I was very upset because now I had to figure out how to find a cake within a day, (even though they offered to “quickly” make one for me but it wouldn’t have been the cake I needed so I declined). Now fast forward to today when it is my sister-in-laws birthday and I placed my order on Tuesday this week with her birthday being on Thursday. That is 2 days in advance. I go and pick up my cake and I get what looks like a toddler made it. I was charged 61 dollars for a cake that, did not have borders on it that I requested because whoever took the order “forgot” to write that down, was more fall themed than Halloween (which is what I requested when I said specifically that it is for an early Halloween party), the icing is at best “rustic” looking but I don’t even know if you could call it that and the lettering is all different sizes not even straight on the cake! I’m never ordering from here again which is very disappointing because the flavors and quality of cake is really good so if that is all you’re looking for then this is right for you but if you want a simple cake to look good then stay away! I also want to point out the three sad pumpkins included on the top that feel randomly placed. This was not a 61 dollar cake.

DO NOT GO HERE! There are so many other phenomenal bakeries in this area (Dolce Darlin’, Manuel's Bread Cafe, Heroes Donuts) I ordered the strawberry crunch cookie, a loaf of “sourdough” bread and a cinnamon bun from lil’ Dutch bakery. The cookie came wrapped in plastic wrap making it taste like plastic and was difficult to even bite into it was so old (crouton texture), my child gagged at the taste of it and had to spit it out. I tried it thinking she was exaggerating but no…I had to spit it out. The “sourdough” is plain sandwich bread (I’ve been making sourdough at home for 4 years, there is no sourdough starter in this bread…see photo…if you know sourdough you know it’s not this dense and the crust does not look like that), and the cinnamon bun also tasted like plastic and was very old…even the microwave didn’t soften it up. I don’t know how this place stays in operation. I understand maybe one item being bad, maybe it was an off day, but every single item we order was horrendous.

Went into the grovetown location for the first time the other day and instantly loved everything about this beautiful bakery! Immediately smelled incredible and everything was very very clean and shiny and very obvious cared for properly. The lady who served me was very sweet and helped me pick a cupcake flavor to try and recommended the salted caramel and it was absolutely delicious 😋 stuffed with some of the frosting and caramel (I think) syrup of some kind. It was perfect for my sweet tooth, but not overly sweet. The cake itself was very moist as well. I also tried this lemon strawberry square thing. Was kinda like a lemon blondie with thick strawberry frosting. Again not too sweet though and very balanced between the two flavours. Neither overwhelmed the other which I appreciated as a big fan of both.

Oh gosh. What can I say? I thought no one could replace Smoaks Bakery. Remember that place? This is even better. I haven't tried everything in there, but the cupcakes are truly divine. Try the strawberry cheesecake cupcake. There's literally cheesecake baked inside and topped with a healthy serving of cream cheese frosting (my favorite of the frostings). It's probably the most delicious thing I've ever eaten in my life and I'm no stranger to baked goods! They also made my friend's wedding cakes. Red velvet and carrot cake. They were absolutely delicious and beautiful. Not an easy task for wedding cake which is usually one or the other. Rarely both. I worked for a wedding photographer for many years and typically wedding cakes are gorgeous, but dry. Not these cakes. The Mennonites are on to something. If you're not into sweets, they also have full dinners you can pick up and take home. Treat yourself a little and go there now. And if you're getting married and find yourself in need of a cake, let these ladies astound you. You...

If there could be better, sweeter, more delicate and tasty items found I am u sure where else to locate them! This place has the most wonderful cakes and breads anywhere in this area-- unless you choose to get organic and create your own from scratch! The turn over melt in your mouth. Each layer is light and airy, creating the silk smooth melt of pastry blending with your favorite flavor note- for me- the tang of cherry or or the sweet kisses of a the cream cheese-- it creates a an expected swirl of light and sweet, magic! I love the huge colorful cupcakes with healthy serving icing just begging for fingers and light airy poundcakes sold little and big that I buy an extra two of since they'll ever leave the parking lot outside my tummy. So many choices. Each looks better than the last. Reasonable prices. Very kind employees. Store is always clean snd thoughtful. Love this place. Would recommend. Will come back. Don't need too. Am round enough already. Guess I'll go happy, eh? Could be so much worse! Lol...
