We just moved to Canton and enjoy Martin's. This time, my son and I decided to go in and sit down. Older blonde headed lady took our order, but got it all wrong. That was the beginning. Order: [for here] Sausage biscuit with sausage gravy, small coke no ice, bacon and egg biscuit with gravy. My son's order came on a plate, but mine didn't [I had to ask]. I don't think this lady hears well. He got a biscuit, only, with sausage gravy. I received a wrapped bacon biscuit with a side cup of gravy. Before leaving the counter, I asked to have my bacon and egg biscuit presented like my son's on a plate. She told me it was just a bacon biscuit and proceeded to ask the kitchen help for an egg, but she didn't give him a chance to respond and asked again impatiently heard in her voice. The guy in the kitchen responded negatively with "I'm getting it!" Then, he more or less threw the egg through the window. She added "...and a large plate", to which he clearly threw through across the counter and then walked off. With bare hands, she opened my biscuit, put it on theplate, and literally dumped the egg on it and poured the small cup on gravy in the middle. When we got to the table, beside other workers sitting and eating, I noticed there was no sausage patty on my son's biscuit. The nearby workers said it was not a problem and went and got who I think is the manager [female with long brown hair in a ponytail], who gladly took the plate and put a sausage patty on it and brought it back to the table, apologizing. I told her his looks better than mine, to which she replied, "Would you like more gravy? I usually cover the egg and biscuit." [If this woman is not the manager, then she should be!] I told her that would be nice, but I was scared to ask with the eggs and plate flying around with apparent angry workers. I am extremely disappointed because I don't like for my son to think that negative behavior is okay or that it is anywhere near okay to treat people or customers that way. The behavior of two employees was highly inappropriate and should never have been displayed, ESPECIALLY in front of customers. I am not sure if I will be back, but those two employees need reprimand or...
Read moreI've been here several times over the last few years. Food has always been good, but service has been inconsistent. A couple of weeks ago I went through the drive thru early in morning, and when the window opened, the odor of cigarette smoke wafted out. I looked around and did not see anyone smoking, so I assume it came from the kitchen. Today I stopped by for breakfast and the drive thru was backed up. So I went inside to place a takeout order. Stood in front of the register for 6 - 8 minutes. Both employees working up front saw me and made eye contact several times, but did not say a word. I get it that staffing is a problem and I am okay with waiting, but someone could have at least acknowledged me and said "be with you shortly". This is not the first time this happened to me. Nobody would take my order, so I walked out and went to McDonalds. There are serious management/attitude issues here. Owners, if they care, need to get involved and straighten things out. Until that happens, I...
Read moreMartin’s has a cult following I don’t understand. Their niche is fast food breakfast and no matter what store you visit, every weekend morning (and many weekdays) the drive through will be lined up down the street. It’s confusing because the food isn’t that amazing. Most likely, it’s because there aren’t any competitors in that market segment. They do have a wide menu of breakfast items and fresh biscuits, so it feels like you can get breakfast diner food at a drive thru.
I’ve been a few times to Martins over the years. The last time I waited in a long car line for a full 15 minutes and found out when I got to the ordering station they were out of chicken. Another time, we dined in to avoid the car line and we still laugh about that experience. My wife ordered cheese grits and what she received was 1/2 cup of grits in styrofoam with a folded up piece of American cheese stuck in it.
A lot of people must think it’s worth it because they always seem busy, I just...
