New review...after a few years I decided I would give this McDonalds another chance. Still a waste of time and disappointment. I arrived through the drive through it 7:58 am only to hear an annoyed voice through the speaker say"not open". The voice didn't make any apologies, didn't offer any information as to when they would be, just "not open". The voice could have just as easily said politely "Im sorry, we're not open" or " I'm sorry, we wont be open until 9am", (or whatever time they decided to open). It crazy how creepy the reviews are for this McDonalds and the employees that works here. The corporate offices should pull their franchise agreement and grant it to an owner that actually cares about doing business into that location. McDonalds on Saint Simons Island sucks, has sucked for years and will continue to suck as you can read for yourself the other reviews. They just don't care and will do nothing to correct the problems. Hey McDonalds...here is a challenge for you give me 60 days to manage your store and see what I can do. I GAURANTEE it will be better than it has been. Ill work for free for 60 days, if at the end of 60 days its better, you pay me then, if it isnt, you dont pay me it all. What do you have to lose, your already stellar ratings and lost revenue due to mis-management?
Original review: For over 20 years Ive been going to McDonald and ordering a sausage egg and cheese McMuffin, substitute the "round egg" for "folded egg"(scrambled). All over the lower 48, this is NEVER a problem wherever I go. This morning, either due to incompetence, laziness, or a new directive from corporate, McDonalds refused to accomidate this request. When I questioned why, the drive through clerk told me they dont do that. I explained that I have ordered this sandwich the same way for over 20 years and it has never been a problem. She then proceeded to tell me that since "its "on specail" (2 for $4), they cant make changes to it." Here's my point, if I wanted to add bacon for an additional charge, they surely would ring that "special" sandwich up with no questions asked. So...by her "logic"(using the term loosly), the McRib is only a special sandwich, if I wanted it with no onions they would not be able to alter it and have to serve it how it is advertised? As I told the girl at the drive through, my last visit to McDonalds was now my last visit. I wont be back to this one or any McDonalds. Customer service should always be the number one priority. It wasnt even posed as an option to charge me a difference (if folded egg cost more than round egg) I would have paid, it is the lack of customer service that will ensure I never go back to another McDonalds. Even if it was just this location, it was presented to me as a corporate directive from the window employee, so I will take her word for it. Goodbye McDonalds, it was fun doing...
Read moreI can see why this place has a bad rep. However, I've had mostly good experiences here. My most recent visit was tonight. Went through the drive-thru and ordered a triple cheeseburger combo. I asked for only cheese and Mac sauce on my burger (I sometimes forget I'm not at Burger King). The girl working the drive thru wasn't sure if the fries were fresh, so I did have to wait on a new batch which I'm appreciative of. We all love hot fresh McDonald's fries. I've learned to always check my order before driving off at McDonald's. The sticker on the burger said only cheese and Mac sauce, but for whatever reason the cook put lettuce on it as well. I had pulled forward to let the person behind me get their order because they were waiting for a while, so I parked and went inside to straighten out my order. Everyone was very friendly. I was immediately greeted, the girl at the counter took my old burger and showed the cook what she did wrong, then the cook brought my new burger back and apologized for her mistake. Small things like that go far with me. My previous visit was at breakfast time. The drive-thru line was long so I went inside and was met with a line just as long. Only one person working the register and handing out food, so it took almost 30 minutes for me to finally order (no exaggeration, I checked my watch). Once I ordered though my food came out promptly and I was on my way within 5 minutes of ordering. I will say this - I've always had very polite people wait on me here and they are willing to do whatever for you. So the customer service is great - just need improvement on counter time and order accuracy. Giving 4 stars because of tonight's mistake and previous visit's wait to order. Give it a shot - it's a lot better than other McDonald's...
Read moreQuarter pounder was given to us as ordered, but we had to wait almost 10 minutes for 2 fish sandwiches. We pulled up from the drive through, to wait on the sandwiches, and a employee was hanging on the entrance rails smoking a cigarette, with his work pants hanging down past his hips, as some people wear them as a style these days. It was very unpleasant, and unprofessional. To top it off, he had a blue tooth device in his ear, blowing smoke directly into our car window. It may sound petty, but I thought most facilities had a designated smoking area. During our wait, another female employee came up to him and asked him to come back inside to help a new guy out on the floor with prepping something, and he right out told her I'm busy, and wait until he's done. She was very angry and didn't make a scene. There was no manager to intervene, at least one that was near this situation. I usually wouldn't get involved, or tell on someone, but I felt this was not something I felt should go unchecked. I feel this is the right thing to do,because I wondered how many other patrons have been treated like this at this facility, and may prevent further occurrences in the future. Please look into this matter. It was around 7:00 pm, on Sunday, February 23. We are here visiting the city from Jacksonville Florida, and really just didn't like the way our experience ended. It wont stop us from further visiting in the future, but I hope maybe next time the employees have a better understanding of the treatment of guests, and punctuality of the delivery to a waiting vehicle. Cold quarter pounders are really not that tasty. Thank you for your understanding in...
