This was our fourth time here, the first 3 times the service was spot on, we had Haley and she knocked it out of the park each time. The food was unbelievable and we had sang their praise to all our friends and how they hadto check them out. We requested Haley again but I guess she is no longer working here, we were bummed. We brought neighbors and as we drove the 1.5hrs to get there all we were speaking of is how unbelievable it was and they had already decided what they were ordering after checking it out on line... When we arrived we noticed they weren't very busy, they had (4) other tables and (3)servers so we thought smooth sailing...Regina came and filled our water glasses and as we were going to tell her our appetizer request she was gone and we waited....it was a good 10-15 min before she came back and asked if we had made up our minds, we stated we wanted an appetizer but we didn't let her leave we ordered as well....and we waited. We watched as tables that came in well after us were receiving appetizers and salads so I called across the room to Regina and asked if we could get bread and our salads, she told me they were making the salads and they would be out as quickly as possible. The salads came out and my buddy asked for no tomatoes but that want observed and the appetizer we ordered was the bruschetta had the bottom burnt on it. We waited again, when I say we waited it was enough time for(2) tables to finish their meals that came in after us. Our meals had arrived I didn't recognize what I was being served, I ordered veal piccata which I am used to seeing itin a light lemon sauce as it was the previous time I was in, I was given it this time in a red oil ladened plate I was so confused and disappointed. After everyone finished their meals they were looking forward to dessert and Regina headed over with the bill but we told her we wanted dessert they ordered and my wife and friend ordered the key lime pie and bothe swore it wasn't home made and was disappointed again. As we left I apologized to them for how I had built up their expectations buy they were good sports and said it was still good and they would even come back...not sure if the wife and I will. I just don't know if they have new cooks or why everything seemed so different this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery very average considering the phone tag required to get a reservation. When we arrived, our reservation was not marked in the book despite receiving a phone confirmation. The restaurant was not overly busy so this wasn't an issue, but we had to wait a solid five minutes before anyone spoke to us. This is not the staff's fault, the restaurant just didn't have enough people working considering it was about half full.
The layout is nice, but the decor is old looking and the building also has an old feel inside, but not in a charming way. It reminds me of the before shot on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Menus are on printer paper which was surprising considering the price of the food.
The server was very nice, he was just stretched too thin. Again, not his fault since the restaurant only had two people serving most of the evening. I had the meatball bruschetta app special to start. Very good portion, almost like half a meatball sub. Flavor was very bland though and I mostly just tasted tomato sauce and burned toast. The best Italian restaurants I've tried always have excellent meatballs with signature flavors.
I ordered the mussels on pasta for the entree but they were out, so I stuck with the standard spaghetti and meatballs. The dish came with a Caesar salad which seemed fresh but also very bland. My partner's house salad was better, but for whatever reason it was not delivered with mine and we had to ask for it a second time.
The spaghetti and meatballs were very unremarkable. Again, no flavor and nothing that made the taste or presentation stand out. I honestly think OG has more flavor. My partner had the Alfredo pasta which she enjoyed but I didn't try it.
Random observation: the clientele seemed to almost be exclusively senior citizens. This was a Saturday night at the standard dinner hour. Large parties of friends having wine and dinner.
Two apps, two entrees and one beer was $90 before tip. I definitely don't think it was a $100+ experience. Very average at best with a high price tag. Somewhere like Del Sur is a similar cost but much higher quality experience across the board. Props to our server for juggling so many tables almost singlehandedly, but there's nothing noteworthy about the food that I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood is average. Restaurant appeared to be clean. Waitress was friendly but should consider another line of work. We arrived at 5:30 pm on a Saturday evening. We didnāt have a reservation but they were not busy so we were seated right away. Waitress took our drink order and brought them out right away. She managed to have the right drinks in spite of not being sure. She took our order which was one appetizer and two meals with salads. Then she brought out the bread. She came back with a plate of olive oil with what I thought was Italian herbs for dipping. It wasnāt. It was balsamic vinegar! Nasty! Thankfully there was also butter. When she brought out our appetizer we asked for more bread and just olive oil with herbs for dipping. She brought the olive oil but no bread. The appetizer was tasty. Then we waited and waited. We watched her take orders for a table of 10 teens headed to prom. We watched her chat with most of them. And we waited. We finished our appetizer and still we waited. She finally got back to us and asked āHow was everything?ā I was livid. I told her that we had only had an appetizer, that she failed to bring out more bread as promised, we had not had salads nor any drink refills, never mind having our dinner!!! She got busy after that but it still took another 30 minutes to get our food. I had an acceptable version of chicken parm and my husband had the red fish which he said was good. I didnāt finish mine (I never finish a full entreĆ©). She checked and was concerned that I didnāt like the food. I told her it was fine but we were ready to pay. She brought the check, took the folio and our card. My husband had asked about a military discount which she said she would take off. And then we waited. And waited. She came by and asked if we had already cashed out. We looked at her like she had two heads. Thatās when she realized she had not run our card and brought it back to be signed. We were there for an...
