If you had asked me before yesterday, I would have told you that Chili Peppers is one of my favorite restaurants on the island. Usually the food is excellent and the service is decent, except for the time the waitress dumped salsa all over my sister's hair, her brand new white purse, and sweater, and received a sheepish apology. However, after yesterday's experience, I can unfortunately no longer say that. Our meal started out pleasant, with a waitress i have had a couple of times. She was quick and attentive, and our food was very good. The issue did not arise until we received our bills. I had ordered one soda, but were charged for 2. The group I was with ordered two sodas, but were charged for 4. Seeing this, I brought it to the waitresses attention. She explained that I had one drink and one refill, and then she brought me another refill and a to go cup. I would like to point out that the waitress automatically refilled my drinks each time without me asking (except i did request a to go drink). So one drink one refill was $4.16, and then my second drink and refill i was charged another $4.16. I explained that I had been coming for years and had never had this happen or been told there was only one refill. She said she would get the owner. When the owner came she asked what we needed. Someone in my party told her we were charged with too many drinks. She points at me and says you drink 3, 4, 5 drinks sometimes when you come in. You get one drink one refill. She was asked if it says on the menu you only get one refill, where she replied no. She then proceeds to say she is losing money because of me, and that our usual waitress gets in trouble everytime I come in because she doesn't charge me extra for refills. I replied that I never meant to get anyone in trouble and that why wasn't I ever told this? She said the waitress was too embarrassed. The owner has been there everytime I have come in, which is maybe once a month. Why has she never come in and kindly brought up that this is their policy. This conversation went on several minutes. Basically repeating how she is there to make a profit and I get too many refills. She said it costs her $.58 everytime someone fills a drink. So that with a drink and a refill she is making a profit of $3. I told her that her prices for drinks are higher than anyone else I have seen locally, which she replied she had to make a profit. She did take the extra charges off this time, but told me I would be charged extra in the future. After this experience there wont be a next time. The thing I think that bothers me the most is that it was clear that the employees/owner talked about me everytime I visited the restaurant. Read moreThey MUST provide a drink menu! It was not clear which drinks were part of happy hour and which were not. Turned out that our $14.50(!!!!) margaritas were not part of happy hour even though we were told that they were and that ruined a nice meal. The manager was SO rude and refused to even credit us for happy hour. A patron cannot make an educated decision about their meal or their drinks without the prices. Our server offered to cover some of the cost, (which I see has happened before) but we wouldn't let him. It's the manager's job to make it right and I see that she has been doing this on a regular basis. my mom had to follow the manager around because she would stand still to discuss this. She shouted at my mother, made her follow her around the dining room and made her feel like she had been attacked and violated. It was an awful experience. I don't hand out 1 star reviews often. My mother, my aunt nor myself were contacted about this incident to make it right. That's a shame. They moved weeks ago, it's not a new restaurant. The excuse of not having time yet is ridiculous. Read moreI called in an order for two huaraches combo. And an extra huarache on the side with no toppings. I repeated the order back to the person who took my order. To make sure he had it right. So when the person picking up the food for me call to make sure they had the right order. They didn’t. My name was not right or the person picking up the food name was not right. They had Ester as the name. They put the right order in. But charge me for the extra food they made which I did not place. When delivered to me I call to find out why I was charge for something I did not order. The owner got aggressive towards me. Raise her voice on the phone. Stated her son took my order and her son never makes mistakes. I again I had repeated my order to make sure he had it right. Not once did he say he couldn’t hear me. Instead of apologizing for a mistake, she made me feel like it was fault they made a mistake. Absolutely disappointed as I do love their huaraches. That’s the only reason I visit this establishment. In no shape or form should a customer be yelled at over the phone. Terrible customer service. Definitely would not be recommending this...
