First meal of the day and it was TRASH! I had the “crab boil” which consisted of boiled shrimp, boiled eggs, sausage, fried shrimp and corn on the cob. I also had 2 spring rolls, green beans, grits with shredded cheddar cheese and watermelon , pineapple and mandarin oranges for desert. I sit down put on a pair of the plastic gloves. I took a bite of the corn and instantly gagged! The corn was over cooked and the juices/seasonings on the corn tasted like dirty dish water. There was nothing cajun about the seasoning. To make sure nothing was wrong with my taste buds, I asked my Daughter to take a bite of the corn. My daughter had the exact same reaction from the corn on the cob, but the look on her face told me everything I needed to know. I proceeded to taste the sausage, one bite and I spit it out. Next was the boiled shrimp … peeled off the shell of the shrimp and noticed the shrimp had not been deveined and the shrimp was mushy. I just put the shrimp down. Put everything back in the plate and push the plate aside. I begin to eat my watermelon, pineapples and mandarin oranges. the only thing good on this plate was the watermelon. It was pleasantly sweet and juicy. The mandarin oranges were watery and lacked any flavor. The pineapples were two different colors. you had some pieces that were White, as if it was a pear and Then you had the other pieces that were bright yellow, as if they may have had some dye or food coloring added. I don’t know which ones were canned, and which ones were real but when I tasted both, they were both awful. I called the server over and told her what I had just experienced from that entire plate of awful food. I said in my seat for the next five minutes, watching my grandchildren nibble from their food … they weren’t too excited either. I decided to give the buffet a second chance and went back through the line. This time I go back for a plate of vegetables and wings. Black Eyed Peas , collard greens, cabbage, sweet potatoes/yams, lima beans, and the hot honey wings.(pictured) And guess what…TRASH!!!!! I wish I would’ve taken a picture of the first plate just so you could see that I ate nothing on my plate.!! my daughter told me that the server came back over to her and told her she spoke with the cook about the seafood boil” tasting like dirty dish water and the cook said he was gonna have one of the other employees taste the food and if it didn’t taste right to the employee, he was gonna throw it all out. The greens were extremely salty, the lima beans had no flavor and lacked seasoning , the yams were canned as well as the Black Eyed Peas, the macaroni and cheese was dry and burnt! At this point, I was fed up and asked the server to call the manager to the table! I requested a refund for my plate only! The Manager told me the food was pre-cooked and canned, and that they season it by hand before putting it out on the buffet . Mt transaction was voided my and the manager processed a new receipt minus my plate. My bank account is showing both transactions. I’m waiting at this time to make sure that it reconciles to the reduced the...

It is a refurbished Golden Corral and the set up is familiar. Hot food side, salad bar, and dessert bar. The hot bar has so many different options! The salad bar had 2 types of lettuce as ell as ur standard salad fixings, pasta salad, potato salad, jello... Dessert bar several different varieties of sliced cake.. carrot, chocolate, and a pink iced cake. As well as cookies , banana pudding , bread pudding and peach cobbler (which was also delicious). And also a slushie machine!! And a popcorn machine! I didn't see an ice cream machine, but they do have a variety of ice cream ream bars in a freezer unit right next to the bar. Everything I had was pretty decent. I enjoyed the huge variety. Service was ok. She did come.a check on us a couple of times. I do like how the have the silverware and plates set up as well as hand sanitizer station. It's something for everyone there. I would visit again if I was on that...
Read moreOn February 23, 2025, my church members and I decided to dine at Old Tyme Grill & Buffet. Initially, everything seemed fine—we were seated, enjoyed our first plates, and looked forward to our meal. However, when I went back to fix myself a second plate, I was horrified to see roaches crawling around the food.
Seeing one roach in a restaurant’s food area is alarming enough, but it begs the question—if one was visible, how many more were hidden behind the counters, in the kitchen, or within the food itself? The presence of pests in an establishment serving food is not just unsanitary; it’s a serious health violation that puts customers at risk of contamination and foodborne illnesses.
This situation is completely unacceptable. A restaurant should be a place where people can enjoy their meals without worrying about hygiene and safety. Old Tyme Grill & Buffet urgently needs to shut down for a thorough deep cleaning and professional pest control service before reopening. This is not just a minor issue—it’s a major public health concern that should be addressed immediately.
I strongly urge health inspectors to investigate this matter and ensure that the necessary steps are taken to protect future customers. No one should have to experience what we did, and I hope this message reaches others who care about food safety as...
