Extremely Disappointed by Customer Service at Live-In Lodge (Tara Blvd) Especially by Staff Member Named Emerald
I am the CEO and Founder of Blessing Bags of Warmth, a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta that assists families and individuals facing homelessness and crisis situations. Our organization regularly steps in to prevent evictions, provide emergency shelter, and support those experiencing housing instability.
Recently, we were contacted about a client who had suffered a medical emergency and was rushed to the hospital. She was staying at what we initially believed to be the sister property on Memorial Drive, and we immediately mobilized to cover her hotel stay to prevent eviction during recovery. Upon realizing she was actually at the Live-In Lodge on Tara Boulevard, we quickly called the front desk to explain the situation and inform them that a member of our team was en route to make the payment in person.
At this point, the client had already incurred a $79 late fee due to the 11:00 AM payment deadline and was told she would be evicted by 12:30 PM if the balance was not paid.
While we understand policies and procedures, what followed was one of the most disrespectful and unprofessional interactions I’ve experienced in years of working with extended stays and emergency lodging facilities.
Emerald, the staff member who answered the phone, responded with hostility and zero compassion. Her exact words were:
“I don’t know what kind of deal you have going on at Haven Hotel, but we don’t do that s** here at Live In Lodge on Tara! I’m checking them out of the system So they are going to have to step out of their room. They’re going to have to repay the deposit if they can’t come and pay in the next 5 minutes.”
I was absolutely stunned, not just by the language, but by the complete disregard for the reality that many of the guests staying in extended stays are already navigating hardship. This was not only unprofessional, but it was inhumane.
To know that this client, who pays $350 per week, is subjected to such treatment is disturbing. The physical conditions of the hotel are already troubling. Questionable upkeep, lack of basic security responsiveness, and now, extremely poor customer service from staff who seem to forget that their guests are people, not problems.
Our nonprofit works with dozens of extended stay hotels across metro Atlanta. This experience stands out as one of the worst we’ve ever encountered.
We strongly encourage management to provide Emerald with immediate retraining or reconsider her placement in a customer-facing role. Guests, especially those in crisis, deserve compassion and professionalism, not condescension and verbal abuse.
We hope this review prompts a deeper conversation about how vulnerable residents are treated and how service can, and should,...

Read moreI'm going to be honest this is not a bad place the rooms are okay the price is okay, however to be honest, the drama that comes along with it is not worth it. The staff especially the manager Mary constantly fines you for things that makes absolutely no sense, you get no prior notice or anything, nothing in writing they just all of a sudden decide""hey the sky is blue so I'm going to fine you $50". I would say if you're looking for a place to stay and you're only going to be a couple days, this would be okay, it's cheap and a good area. However if you're looking for this for long-term, like more than two days, I would recommend going somewhere else where the drama is less because honestly it's just not worth it all the drama that comes with it. You never know what's going to happen on a day-to-day basis with this place. Sometimes I honestly and truly believe that they intentionally try to run their guests off with lies and accusations and then Mary's demeanor and her attitude when she knows she is wrong for something that she has done like falsely accusing you of having too many people in your room or she make up a rule that never existed until she all of a sudden decided that she wanted to impose that rule and charge you for without even telling you that it was a rule, or when she lie about it being a Clayton County law and in reality it is not a county law, it is a her mad at the world rule and she just wants to charge you extra because she feel that she can do this and that nothing could be done about it, it's just...
