Loved it! Took a minute to find due to Maps & pure user error, but once we did it was easy. They deliver! So you may want to go that route. Located beside the putt-putt and playground, the restaurant is the small brick building to the side. Perfect location for a longer wait. It has a walk up window for take-out and a few picnic tables for eating outside. They do have a dining room and full menu, but it wasn't open when we arrived (a Tuesday at 7:00 PM). Nevertheless they were packed. We saw their delivery driver come and go at least 4 times while were there. Each time loaded down with boxes and bags of garlicky goodness. My party ordered a Greek salad to share and it was one of the best I've had in a while. Lots of feta cheese, delicious olives, and the dressing was amazing. We also ordered a small pepperoni for a teen- it had about 6 slices and was so good she ate all but one. The adults shared a Red Bug Special and it was delicious. Crispy crust and so loaded with toppings they fell off. It was so good that 2 hours later we raided the fridge and shared another slice before bedtime. If you love a good cold pizza the next day, this is your spot! We can't wait to go back, but will do delivery so we can stay at the beach and enjoy the sunset...
Read moreEat here for pizza. Don't be alarmed that I only gave this place three stars. They serve decent pizza with good service. Three stars isn't bad.
This neat little place is located across North Beachview Drvie near the commercial heart of Jekyll Island and is adjacent/co-located with a mini-golf. Based on the dark woods used to accent the interiors this place must have or could've been a jacket and cigar bar for the golfing elite. If you come with a large party be prepared to sit at separate tables or outside if the beach weather will allow it. Today, the interiors while rich-looking have bee well maintained and it feels really great to each a $14 pizza at this place on steamy hot July day.
The pizza itself is acceptable to good depending on your tastes in pizza. The crust is rather thick and seems to consistent to be made from scratch. I would describe the crust as almost like high-end frozen pizza crust. They have ample toppings and we devoured our 14" in a few minutes. While the menu says only one free refill, I wasn't charged for my 2nd or 3rd refill of sweet tea.
The bathrooms are not as upscale as the dinning room, but they are still rather clean.
While at Jekyll Island and you get a craving for pizza Red Bug is a...
Read moreOn July 4th, I sent my teenage son to pick up dinner at Redbug Motors Pizza on Jekyll Island. He waited for over an hour trying to pay (employee was having extreme difficulty with Clover Payment system) and ended up being overcharged by almost $32. My son called a few days later to have overcharge reversed and was told that wasn’t possible and he needed to dispute the charge with his bank. He called again and the manager again dismissed him and said there was nothing they could do. I tracked down the owner who also runs Redbug Motors rental near the airport. I explained what had happened, provided proof of the overcharge, but was treated with disrespect and extreme animosity. Perhaps he thought about how he mis-treated his CUSTOMER and the next day the overcharge was reversed. Based on how both my son and I were treated by both staff and owner, I do not recommend this restaurant. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. Additionally, the quality of the pizza was...
