Lesson learned :: when selecting a coffee shop in a college town, consider the source of the ratings on Google! No offense to my college friends out there, you simply haven't lived long enough to recognize good quality.
I was looking for a place to grab an iced coffee, saw the high ratings for Tinto's and decided to give it a shot. I pulled up to the coffee shop and was not overly impressed with the exterior but I've lived long enough to know that you certainly can't judge a book by its cover. As soon as I opened the door and stepped inside, I quickly realized that it was about 80° inside and it reeked of BO. The more I tried to convince myself I was just smelling food, the more I was convinced it smelled like a sweaty gym! I almost turned around and walked out, but against my better judgment I decided to place an order. As I was waiting for the employee to come take my order, I noticed there were dishes sitting all over the counter and the entire kitchen area was a mess. Get another point where I almost walked out, but I decided to give them a third chance.
The only redeeming factor in this entire situation is the fact that the young lady behind the counter was friendly. If it were not for her, I would have definitely gone with a single star. As I was talking with her, I made the comment that it was really hot and her response was that her manager doesn't like her turning the AC on. Sure, turning the air conditioning off will save some money, but it definitely does not create a great environment for your guests. Not cool (figuratively and literally).
After getting my drink and heading back to my car, I took one sip and new that my decision to place an order was indeed a mistake! I'm not sure what they put in my espresso, but it definitely did not taste like anything I've ever had before. I took two more sips just to make sure my taste buds weren't playing tricks on me.....they were not.
I love supporting small coffee shops and enjoy high quality, handcrafted coffee drinks served in unique and welcoming spaces. Unfortunately this one...
Read moreI really was excited to try this place, as I had always passed it by, but it really was disappointing.
The staff was nice and pleasant, but the establishment was very messy, with stuff all over the counters, the waffle irons caked in burnt residue as well as the drip coffee station being stained and dirty as well. The interior needs a fresh coat of paint and a deep clean/ scrub down.
The espresso was very sour and acidic and the mocha I ordered was Kroger or Publix brand hersheys syrup, which was pretty disappointing, as most competitors in the area charge less and have house mocha, monin mocha or Ghirardelli mocha. My partner also expressed that their coffee wasn’t good either, both of us opting to dump the drinks after a few sips. Additionally, we paid $5.20 for a Nutella croissant and it was a stale costco croissant, which we knew because there was containers spread across the counters, open.
Overall I was really disappointed and I really was excited and wanted to like this place, as it’s local and their menu features some really cool items. Maybe we’ll give it another try in a year, but definitely not any time soon,...
Read moreI'm never going back to Tintos. I ordered 5 minutes before, and another girl ordered a few minutes before two older gentlemen showed up and ordered. Those men left with their orders before they even started on my or the other girls orders! Then, the person who took my order placed my panini in a paper bag and said "your order was to go right?" I did not, and I said "Umm well, I was planning to eat it here." He then rolled his eyes and he and the other person working dug in the cabinet for a flimsy plate when there were 5 ceramic ones on the shelf right in front of them. When I sat back down, I realized I had no napkins. So then when I went back up to ask for a napkin, and you would have thought it was the end of the world with eye rolls from both of them, and they dug in their cabinet for paper towels. I am not one to cause confrontation, but this experience was extremely misogynistic and unprofessional. WOMEN CUSTOMERS MATTER JUST AS MUCH AS MEN CUSTOMERS. Please train your employees and management better. This is unacceptable...
