Hands down the very best coffee shop in Memphis, and I’d argue the best shop in the world. If you haven’t been to Jojo’s Espresso yet, what are you doing? Get in your car now, and try it for yourself! Pro tip: if it’s packed (and it’s not uncommon that it’s busy—the best coffee shop in Memphis couldn’t stay a secret forever!) then drive about 5 mins down the road to their location at Methodist Germantown OR mobile order and explore the surrounding shops.
They’ve never hired a bad barista. Each member of the Jojo’s staff is incredibly talented, kind, warm, and unique. If you’re having a bad day, order a warm drink, sit at the bar, and talk to any of the baristas at the counter. I guarantee you’ll feel much better than you did when you came in. Their whole staff is so incredibly kind and they all make an amazing cup of coffee!
Finally, the coffee is absolutely incredible. The flavor is always amazing, and the texture is always just right. Here’s what I recommend:
You cannot go wrong with the classic hot vanilla latte and whatever current scone selection they have.
Their seasonal menus are always incredible and if you aren’t a coffee person, check out their non-coffee options like their teas, lemonades, and hot chocolate.
The fall menu is arguably the very best! If it’s fall, make sure you get something off the seasonal menu.
Don’t snooze on the cinnamon rolls either. They’re big enough to split, but trust me, you won’t want to share it with anyone after you’ve had your first bite.
And if you’re there for lunch, the brisket quesadillas are INCREDIBLE. I’ve honestly never had better quesadillas in all my life.
So, what are you waiting for? Get to Jojo’s now! They...
Read moreLike many people, when I'm in a new area, I enjoy checking out local spots for coffee. I was looking forward to grabbing a pastry and something to drink while exploring the neighborhood and was drawn to this place by the positive reviews.
Unfortunately, my expectations were quickly shattered by the poor quality and lack of cleanliness and professionalism from your staff. Your staff show no regard for hygiene. I considered getting a pastry, but spotting several flies resting on the food quickly put an end to that idea. In addition, I noticed that your staff were not wearing gloves while handling food. While waiting in line, I saw employees moving between the cash register and touching someone’s bagel, without any handwashing or precautions in between. There seemed to be no awareness or concern for basic sanitary practices.
The service itself wasn’t terrible, but it was definitely underwhelming, especially given that customers are prompted to leave a tip after every transaction.
Mediocre service aside, the level of cleanliness is what truly shocked me. With an open-concept kitchen, everything is on display, yet I saw staff go from sweeping the floor to preparing food without any hand sanitizing in between. That is completely...

But now comes the worst part: they urgently need to organize that menu so the place can reach its incredible potential. Hire a good chef to provide you with a good menu. The sandwich is extremely bad, and there are no good options. This is my second time here, and the second time I've been disappointed. My God, they have a better coffee menu, a better tea menu. I know I couldn't compare it to good cafes in big cities, but you have the potential to do so. Unless you don't want to do any of that and that's your goal, and you want to keep the place solely for work and study. Even my husband, who was born and raised here and eats everything, doesn't like your menu... But I'll still offer my criticism. Maybe it'll be...
