NOTE: I want to be clear. GPAC is one of the best places in the Memphis area to see a live concert. My original review was written whilst thirsty & in line for my first & only beverage to be had that night.
I stand by my original criticism, but I've been back since & they've greatly improved. You should know that GPAC has radically upped their game re: concessions. Most recently one of the best concert concessions experiences I've had in my 30+ yrs of concert going. Tip the staff & enjoy the wonderful stage & auditorium. Good acoustics, most seats are great even far back & high up. And now, cranky old dudes can get a drink to take their minds off a bad back.
ORIGINAL REVIEW FROM 2017: Jesus effing Christ, I'm not sure if the concessions lines could be any longer. They'd seriously sell a hell of a lot more if we didn't have to wait for an actual 47 min to get a bottle of water and a beer. The concessions dumpster fire wrapped in a cluster-f#@$ aside, I love pretty much every show I've seen here. I like the acoustics and the seating.
2019-11-02 UPDATE: They had the concessions crank-a-lanking - we were in line for maybe, maybe 5 minutes. It was luxurious.
2020-02-28 UPDATE: GPAC had cracked the code on selling as much as possible at concessions. Thank you. 4 lines & less than 3 minutes for a beer - I've never seen so many Becky's so happy w/ white wine in hand & therefore not needing to speak with someone's...
Read moreYesterday was my 1st time visiting this establishment. I can most definitely say that I will patronize them again. I attended the GPAC chicken festival. I had a really great time. I was disappointed in the chicken vendor that I patronized. The chicken was not fresh at all. You could tell that it was chicken that came out of a warmer. I spent 17 dollars on not so fresh chicken. Never again. The libations that I had were A-1. The bartender Brett was very nice and attentive. The band was good also. I'm looking forward to more...
Read moreThe acoustics of the theater are rich and vibrant. We saw the opera Tosca here, and everything was perfection. A more modern theater rather than a fancy old opera house, it is a bit more comfortable than a stuffy old theater with all the fancy trappings. We sat in the balcony, which gave us a great view. The seats are well-arranged in the balcony, with a good amount of height difference in the rows, so you have a clear view. If you have a chance to see a show here,...
