First time eating here. Overall, good concept and flavors, friendly staff and good service, but the food lacks execution. We had:
Queso ($16): good flavor and toppings, but it was barely lukewarm, and came with a laughable amount of chips, half of which were broken. Had to ask for more chips twice to have enough to finish the dip. For $16, I expect a much better dish, and come on now, put enough chips on the plate to eat the dip. I should have taken a picture.
2 meat platter (brisket and ribs, potato salad and beans), $32 and advertised to feed 2 people. Ribs were very good, came with 3-4 ribs so decent sized portion. Brisket had great flavor, good portion, but dry and not very fresh. Beans were like black eyed peas with some good flavors, a little sweet, enjoyed them. Potato salad was very bland and very dry. Not sure the aim there, but it’s a big miss. As being advertised to feed 2, I’d say it’s more like 1.5. Only 2 if you get an app beforehand. The sides need to be a little bigger (and better) if it’s advertised to feed 2 average adults.
Bacon Old Fashioned ($15): good drink with a big fresh piece of thick bacon or pork belly. A bit pricey but with the snack, I’d recommend it. The flavors pair well.
Overall, I’d say it’s overpriced for what you get. It could get there with better execution (hot food, proper portioned sides, chips with the queso lol). But friendly service, nice clean atmosphere. If you like BBQ, you’ll prob enjoy it. Just know it will be pricey and prob not on par with your favorite BBQ spots (if you’ve had it somewhere good like...
Read moreWe came here for smokehouse barbeque and ended up with an overpriced plate of smoked meat. This place tries to be a "fancy" smokehouse restaurant and what you get is just a pricy plate for people who don't know what barbecue should really taste like.
My partner and I try a ton of barbecue places all over from NC to NM and all down south. and have made it ourselves a few times. We know a few things about smokehouse barbeque. Not a good sign when you can't taste the smoke on anything that was cooked.
The plates are overpriced and in my opinion you should never have to pay an extra 4 dollars to get a side of cornbread.
We had the brisket and the pork shoulder.
The brisket: no smoke ring, no flavor, the rub was supposed to be some sort of coffee rub, didn't taste anything. If you need to add sauce to smokehouse that is never a good sign. What we got was closer to slow cooked brisket. Consistency was great it just had no flavor.
Pulled pork had decent flavor.
Had pickled veggies and slaw as sides.
Slaw was basically just white cabbage.
Pickled veggies was basically just vinegar.
They did have a nice establishment and the staff was great. Decent drinks as well.
Just want to warn anyone who comes looking for a...
Read moreI recently visited Brimstone Smokehouse for the very first time and will say I was definitely excited when walked in and was surrounded by smells of sweet tangy meat. I ordered a small Knives & Fork (2 meats, 2 sides) at the cost of about $21. I went with the brisket and trout at the servers suggestion along with a pickle pile, pickled veggies, and the slaw. The food arrived quite promptly, not always a good thing depending on what you ordered.. I took my first bite of trout and was greeted by a mouth full of lukewarm mush and bones: I grew up catching, cleaning, cooking, and eating trout; that’s not the sensation one should expect. (I ate half of the trout but started gagging on bones so discontinued that part of the meal) In between the trout and brisket I dove into the slaw and pickled veggies only to encounter oversized pieces of very salty root vegetables while the slaw was also not conducive to easy eating; they both came off as more of a garnish. Now the Brisket; once I cut all the fat off it was delicious dipped in their Sassy sauce! I will tie this up with saying the brisket, cocktails, and wait staff are wonderful but I am not in a rush to return and overpay for a...
