Oct 2024 update: Stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon for a late lunch. Easy to find a parking spot in front of the restaurant and we were seated upon arrival. Overall, we had a nice, although pricey, lunch but there were a - things that I will highlight here in hopes that the restaurant owners will take note and address these shortcomings as follows: Diet Coke was not good and had a chemical disinfectant taste – disinfectant was left either in the glass or in the lines supplying the Diet Coke to the dispenser. I ordered a carbonated water to replace the diet coke but again tasted the chemical disinfectant. Steak Salad was tasty and the steak was tender and cooked medium rare as requested; however, instead of providing a melting spoonful of blue-cheese butter on top of each piece of steak, a large spoonful of cold and hard blue-cheese butter was placed on top of the salad – wasn't able to melt it over the steak buried in the salad. Stripped clams were served hot and were quite tasty – no complaints! This is a noisy restaurant making it somewhat challenging to have a conversation at the table
June 2023: We dropped in for lunch on a Wednesday in June without reservation. No problem getting seated right away as long as it is inside. Service was friendly and efficient. St Louis Burger was tasty but the fries were undercooked and not crispy. The Reuben sandwich was tasty and filling but the side salad was fresh but nothing really special and the blue cheese dressing was too creamy...
Read moreWhile I haven’t been to the Tides in awhile, I will say this visit was very disappointing. I grew up in the Harbor next to the Tides, where I knew the place back in the day, the food never disappointed. I visited the Tides with my boyfriend last night and besides a server not approaching us for over 10 minutes, where we missed HH, the sandwich I ordered didn’t look anything like the one posted on your Instagram page, only wish I would have taken a picture of the one I received. I ordered the Tuna melt with ahi tuna, only what I received was not tuna nor did it even have tuna in it, it looked like a crab cake smashed on a sandwich as this was dry and had panko breading in it and covered half of the bread. I only took two bites. Was not happy. In addition it was served to me lukewarm along with my fries. I informed our server this doesn’t appear to be a tuna melt as it has breading and it is not good. She didn’t seem concerned. Didn’t offer to remake or adjust, or was there another choice I would prefer. My boyfriend got a burger and enjoyed that, but his clam chowder didn’t appear to have any clams in it he said. While I was in the bathroom, the bill came and the Tuna Melt was removed from our bill, but the fact that I wasn’t offered a substitution in the first place was disappointing. Not sure when I’ll Will be back, the Tides used to be a great place back in the day, not sure I can...
