Came here on 6/21/25, free RPG day, after finding out this place existed from Reddit. I joined the Discord and introduced myself, sharing what gaming experience I had. Found out that there was free RPG day and I was stoked to be able to find a group (hopefully!) to game with.
I arrived around 4:40 as games were due to start at 6. They use Warhorn to manage games which sounds great to me, with very common rules of "be on time and prepared, your character sheet out and ready to go." They were also allowing walk-ins to join on free RPG day which is even better. I figured in an hour I could roll a character up and maybe get a small run down on rulesets. I know a LOT has changed from AD&D 2nd, 3, and 3.5 editions which was what I knew and had the most exposure to, and I know a LOT more companies have put out games since I last played 20 years ago.
I was promptly greeted by one of the co-owners who has a fantastic personality, welcomed me to free RPG game day, pointed out where they had a small stack of FREE RPG materials (source books, small adventures), and that the volunteers who were running the games were on break or being highly encouraged to go on break. I'm all for that, said thank you, and looked around.
Prices for products are not bad and its a varied selection. Finding anything Warhammer for instance is always a surprise, so to see some products and paint for them is a plus. Some board and card games, Star Wars, miniatures, a surprisingly small selection of D&D, outdone by a larger selection of Pathfinder. Limited collectable card games (no Magic: the Gathering) selection. There's also gaming supplies like dice (I counted five different areas in their store with dice displays) and grid maps. The biggest thing you would be hard pressed for ease of use is character sheets. Table space can be rented starting at $5 for 30 minute increments.
They offer snacks (chips and candy) and drinks (soda and specialty) water at a huge mark up; I can go to the 76 station on Soundview by Goodwill and get a can of soda for 89 cents; here it's a $1.25. Absolutely no idea if you can bring food in or have it delivered; someone had asked on their Discord last year and to this moment, no idea if it was ever answered or what the policy is.
I want to say that I had a good time at free RPG day but I ended up leaving after an hour and not even playing. Too many glares from one of the volunteers really killed the mood as I was talking to another volunteer who had explained what games were going to be run and his excitement to hopefully take part in playing it, not running it.
Couldn't tell if it was my age, my attire, or what exactly I did to get the volunteer's ire at my presence, but it certainly killed my enjoyment. Maybe the open ended, walk-in and join style just doesn't work for everyone running a game despite that being the format of the day...
Location: 3/5 stars - it's tucked away so it's easier to park by the post office and just walk there. Selection: 4/5 stars - it's a little bit of everything offered but nothing beyond that. Atmosphere: 5/5 stars just because of the co-owner working there and her cheery disposition, 1/5 from the volunteer's glares. Prices: 5/5 stars - list price for books, starter dice are $15, better quality/unique dice...
Read moreAbsolutely welcoming staff who are willing to help you with whatever tabletop hobby you have. They have an awesome selection of boxed games, RPG miniatures, a nice splattering of comics, Magic: The gathering Cards, and a couple other TTCCG's, and some very unique dice as well. Actual bone dice? Sweet! At the time, there are (understandably) no tables or gaming space, but the staff did state that they plan to accommodate games when COVID restrictions have passed by renting out the space, not sure what the business model they will take with that, but it would be fun to run a game there either preceded by or followed with a local pub crawl. "Why not both?" I say. They do not carry any tabletop wargaming games such as Warhammer though, partly due to the stores limited space, and also because we all know that Games Workshop is, well... as corporate of a corporation that a business can be.
They also mentioned that they hope to work with more local businesses such as 7 Seas and Wet Coast brewing to collaborate and grow with, which is A+++ in my book.
If I could rate the staff, it would be 5 stars as they were friendly, high spirited, professional and interested in what YOU are doing with your hobby, which was cool. The space I feel may be a limiting factor, but hopefully they either get a larger space, or somehow create a time rotation that meets everyone needs.

The shop keep Charlie always manages to provide a welcoming and engaging atmosphere. They somehow manage to ride the line between bursting with energy and a very chill vibe. They know their product and their target community, and host several events all week long. Charlie is even training to become a licensed Pokemon Professor to host and judge Pokemon the Card Game torunaments.
There's always something going on in the shop. From magic events, to a live Dungeons and Dragons campaign, to board game night, to full scale Star Wars Legions battles taking place. Join their discord to get updates about their rotating schedule and participate in their occassional giveaways.
Or just come down to the store with a friend to playtest the current showcase game or even a game of your own. They also offer store merch including hoodies and shirts with their logo on them, and fantasy themed coffee flavors. They also sell unique fantasy themed merchandise, designed by local artists and crafters.
Their inventory is constantly updating and even just visiting the store can be a magical experience. I look forward to seeing this family owned and operated store...
