First Time Experience:
My friend and I visited here on Saturday and had one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. I had been anticipating visiting Blue Wasabi for a while. We were looking forward to some good food and fun being that the reviews were so amazing. This was not the case for us. We walked in for lunch and were greeted by the hostess with short hair and glasses. She was very unfriendly and acted like she didn't want to interact with us. She sat us outside and said someone would be with us. We waited and waited! Almost 20 minutes go by and no one came to help us. The pair sitting behind us got seated and got service right away. The another waitress passes by and says "Your waitress will be with you shortly." We wait about another 5 minutes and someone finally comes to take the order. She was a very kind Latino lady. She was honestly the friendliest person there. Fast forward, our order comes out. My friend and I asked for a deep-fried roll and it came out cold and slimy. We POLITELY asked for it to be remade. The waitress was glad to do it. The food comes back out and still looked gross and unappetizing. I kindly asked her to get me something else. The runner who brought my food out tossed my plate down on the table. It made a loud bang on the table when she did that. She then walked away. I am convinced of 2 things, either everyone there hates their job and doesn't want to work there OR that they discriminate against People of Color/Blacks. I feel like we were treated unfair and unequal to the other tables around us. Why did I have to wait almost 25 minutes before anyone took our order v.s. The table behind us? Why were we not greeted with friendly service? Why did we not get the experience that everyone brags about? I would not recommend this place and do not plan on returning here at all.
What we ordered:
CRAB CRUNCH ROLL- Honestly, this roll is delicious.
KRUSTY CRAB ROLL- I did not care for this one at all. I was expecting a better taste. I took one bite and knew it wasn't for me.
Cleanliness:
We sat outside. It appeared to be clean. The only complaint was the water glasses. They had water stains and lip prints. We didn't drink out of them.
Do I recommend and/or would you return? :
I would not recommend this place and do not plan on returning here at all due to the customer service.
Suggestions:
Retrain employees on customer service etiquette and common courtesies. Educate them on giving equal service to everyone no matter what...
Read moreI'm not sure if I'm enough of a hipster to eat here but I went with some friends last week and my overall impression was ... Meh.
I can tell they are going for a modern and trendy vibe, which I honestly don't have anything against. The majority of the rolls are going to be between $11-$14 which I consider expensive for sushi. I have no problem paying a higher price for sushi as long and the product represents the cost, sadly in my opinion it did not.
I had the East LA roll which both the hostess and server recommended as well as the Tropic Thunder roll. Both rolls were average in and of themselves, my issue with both rolls were the excessive amount of toppings... The East LA roll was similar to eating a salad, that just so happened to be positioned on top of a sushi roll. Same thing with the Tropic Thunder but this time with way to much salsa that I ultimately just ended up scrapping off 90% of it. I also had a Sake bomb, which was fine and pretty much the same anywhere you go depending on your selection of beer & sake.
I wouldn't say I'm an expert on sushi, I did spend the last 10 years in Vancouver BC which has some of the best sushi in the world, rivaling Japan. I hold sushi joints to a high standard, in this case the price is just not worth it, your paying for a lot of fluff and not a lot of substance. Ive had better sushi for less money through the valley... And true those place might not have had dyed blue wasabi but they also didn't cost $50 for a...
Read moreIf I could give ZERO stars I would! The awful, disrespectful, arrogant, OWNER does not deserve our money. After my experience at this restaurant all i think about are his poor employees whom I’m sure have to deal with this horrible person on a daily basis. Per my friend’s recommendation, I went there with my son and while we waited for 2 of my friends to join us we ordered a drink and appetizer. While waiting for them, a random man walked up to our table and without asking or acknowledging us, he takes away one of our stools from the table that we had for our friends. He dragged this stool over to the other side of the restaurant. When I followed him and inquired why he took a chair from our table without asking, he began to yell, “I’m the owner and I’ll do what I want. You need to leave”. He proceeded to tell his staff not to serve us! Wow! He has zero class and no respect for his customers or woman. Rather than apologize and tell me he’ll replace the stool right away, he embarrassed me and my son. He’s the worse owner I’ve ever come across! I would never recommend his restaurant. Hope this post holds back many people going to this establishment because you never know what this man will do. People such as this man, don’t deserve customers, employees or even friends. He’s a horrible person and I wish and hope NObody gives him any business! Be aware abs read other posts, as this guy’s behavior was not...
