This grocery store is less crowded than Fry's which is literally right across the street BUT ,they're both expensive I'd rather shop at Fry's to be honest reason being because there are always more cashier's available. And a TINY bit better prices but honestly the pricing is close at both. Produce is about equal at both as far as how it looks but you have more to choose at Fry's. I'm going to admit I'm partial to Fry's too because my oldest son worked at Safeway years ago ...a number of years ago ,it was his very first job. He was SO excited. They let him go out of the blue after he had been working there for months with NO issues because the managers didn't like his hair! I'm not kidding! It was disgusting. He had joined the union and I had him call them. Anyway they told the managers it was ridiculous and they couldn't fire my son who had zero issues there in months only because they didn't like his hair. So he was told he could have his job back. But, as a young 17 or 18 year old he felt awkward with these managers disliking his looks and wanting him gone so he said no thanks he didn't want to go back. 😩. And I was like screw this place, my mama bear instincts came out BIG TIME. We live walking distance away from there so IF I have to get something fast I run in there. But I'd rather not. A business that has management that doesn't want to help build young people up and guide them but instead knocks them down only because they don't like how they look is not my kind of place . So, that's my two cents. Thanks for reading if you...
Read moreI'm giving 2 stars to the prices and not to the actual store itself; the store was kept up to the usual Safeway standards I feel. It was very clean and tidy, as is tradition for Safeway. All the produce appeared to be in good shape and was free from those pesky, flying specks. {*on a side note I would like to state for the record, that Safeway is not my normal " go-to" when it comes to groceries. But I will go out of my way to shop their floral section. They always have the most beautiful flowers, and the quality of their products are incomparable to alot of other grocery stores} That being said, I was incredibly baffled and disheartened once I was done scanning my items, "I only saved $2.50?!" I said to myself., "That can't be right..." But then I looked directly below my savings at the total.... "$92!!!!! Holy hell! What did I just buy!?" My brain screamed as I sanned over the seemingly gold dipped items. I literally bought maybe 4 things that were edible and the rest were pretty random items; a pumpkin, carving kit for said pumpkin, a stuffed animal for my grieving cousin, and a bundle of roses (obv.). I couldn't believe how expensive everything was. And I didn't even buy the diapers I needed, for lack of sizing in that department. And the fact that I only saved a measly $2.... Highway robbery! So that is why I have rated only 2 stars.... $92 could you believe it... •end...
Read moreThree stars might seem a little harsh but, I think my visit earned it. It almost got two however, the young courtesy clerk outside, who asked if he could help load my groceries, because I had a brace on my wrist, was very helpful and polite. I had to buy charcoal and some other things and couldn't find the charcoal. The first two people I asked didn't know where it was. The third person said to try isle 5 but wasn't sure. It was isle five... towards the back, on the left, and on the bottom for anyone else needing to find it. Right after I checked out, I happened to see the Assist. Manager. I told him how it took three people, while asking around the store, to help find it and that I was surprised the employees didn't know where things were. His reply was, "Yeah, we don't place emphasis anymore on employees knowing where things are in the store." That's unfortunate Safeway as your competition, Fry's, has a store more customer friendly, and with lower prices, just a mile south of you, and a brand new mega store a little over three miles east of you. Loyalty only gets you so...
