I was severely disappointed in the assistance that I received at this post office. It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review and I've given USPS ample time to rectify this situation.
A couple months ago I ordered medications from overseas (yes, it's legal. I still needed a prescription) and it got stuck in customs for two weeks. The company asked that I refuse the shipment so that it would be sent back to them. As soon as I picked it up from my mailbox, I wrote return to sender on it and left it for pick up.
A couple days later when I went to check my mail, I found the package still on there with a note saying that I could not return it since I opened it. I took it to the Val Vista post office and asked them what I could do. They said they would check the images to confirm what I was saying (that I had not opened the package and that it was open before I received it.) A few minutes later the associate came out and said her manager told her I opened the package and it was apparent due to the pen ink being under the tape.
I told her it wasn't true and I felt as though I was being called a liar. For some reason, this made me so distraught that I started crying in the middle of the post office. Which isn't like me! I begged her to check the image, but they refused.
When I got home, I realized that I could easily wipe off the pen ink because it was OVER the tape!! I filed a complaint online and via phone. Someone called me back and said they would follow up with the images if I emailed them the tracking info. That was in May and I have yet to hear back from anyone. I had to mail the package back to the UK and pay for the shipping.
There doesn't seem to be any accountability for USPS which is very sad. I would have been happy with an apology from the Val Vista manager for implying that I was lying, but I just don't think they care.
I'm giving them 2 stars because every other time I have been here the people up front have been helpful. They aren't the friendliest but they are quick and get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRude staff - sometimes like a movie parody of Postal Office employees. In addition, they sent mail back due to the carrier believing that there was 10 days of mail in the box (in my case it was not 10 days worth of mail but a ton of holiday catalogs-junk mail!). They are supposed to hold the mail for 15 days before returning it as unclaimed. It was immediately sent back after it was taken from the box - instead of owning up to this and apologizing, the employee stated that they are able to do this immediately without any notice to the postal patron and this is a recent change. I dread when I have to use this post office for any services due to the poor service. The Self-Serve area is pretty well organized and I think that's the best thing about this place because less interaction with the people who work there. I was last in line and they had someone training and were closing up on a Saturday. Of course it took some extra time for the trainee to complete my services and this I understand. One employee had the gate right up within 4 inches of me to close off the service area and the trainer person acted like it was THE BIGGEST INCONVENIENCE to have to help him. You would think with the push to close they would be very helpful - there was no one else to wait on but me!!! Overall, my interactions over the past 5 years have been 80% poor. Zero recourse for problems,....I used to work for the Fed Govt and I know it doesn't have to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came in 10 minutes before closing from a different USPS that stopped working at 4:30pm instead of there listed time 5pm. I walked in apologetic seeing as I have worked in the customer service industry for many years and hate when customers come in late and arenāt ready to simply come in do what they need and go but Iām usually kind and let them take there time (within reason). I was rushed and had someone stand not even 5 ft from me while I finished writing my send out address. I had mentioned that I might be sending to Mexico and was instantly told āthatās a whole different paper you have to fill out and would have to come back the following dayā. Why would I come back when one, Iām already there and Iām sure it wouldnāt take long to fill out and 2. If the post office I originally went too would have been open their listed hours I wouldnāt have been cutting it that close. I go to school all week and donāt get out till 4:15 pm and clinicals on Saturdays till 5pm. I know my schedule isnāt their fault but I also was never rude for them to rush me and not want to service me. Luckily I did end sending the package in state and the one lady who helped me send it out was sweet I kept apologizing for still being there when they closed and she was super sweet. I get you wanted to get home, but so did I. Just do better with your customer service besides the lady who helped me send it out (she...
