Our dinner plans changed as they often do when we realized Carolinas is closed on Sundays... Who knew? But with a hankering for a taco salad I started looking up places near me that are reasonably priced for the same or something close to it.. Garcia's too pricey as was mi`amigos.. then I recall Someburros. A place my cousin Jane would rave on and on about. I looked up the menu and decided the prices are fair so we have it a shot. The restaurant itself is absolutely spotless and decorated very well with authentic items one would imagine within a cabana or cantina down south.. The staff seemed somewhat new, our cashier anyway, but polite as one could be using both a friendly smile and actual eye contact in his customer service arsenal.. we ordered four Taco salads with a variety of dressing ranging from standard ranch to a jalapeno ranch as well as a lime blend. Our choice of shredded beef, or machaca, was out of this world. Perfectly seasoned and moist, it shredded easily with every bite. The flour tortilla shell was golden and crisp. They also add whole beans to the mix along with shredded cheese, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole. My only complaint, if you want to call it that, is that it needs more actual lettuce... Also while waiting in line I noticed a shelf in the corner with books for sale- upon further inspection it turns out to be written by the owner of Someburros- a cute, easy to read and beautifully illustrated homage to the humble beginnings of the family eatery we know now as Someburros. Turns out his grandparents are the original owners of none other than Pancho's and it started from nana Isabel's kitchen... Heart warming tale. Four stars for them- I ordered extra dressing that we didn't end up getting and the lettuce shortage are my two "beefs" ... Highly recommend them good food, great staff and super clean place to go that won't break the...
Read moreAnd it came to pass that I did take my journey with my brother Laman into the land of Gilbert. Yea, and we did travel along the road which was called Baseline. Yea, and we did come unto the restaurant known as Some Burros.
And it came to pass that as we entered forth into the restaurant, that we were exceedingly glad. For when we cast our eyes round about, we did observe that this building was exceedingly clean and pleasant to look upon.
And I did go forth to inquire of the servant of this restaurant, which of the many choice food would be the most pleasing unto us.
And he spake unto me, but I could not understand all the words of which he did say unto me. But behold, I did understand many of the words which he spoke, and I surmised that he did speak the truth. For he did tell me of a food which was called burro, and this burro would be filled with chicken, and cooked in oil insomuch that it would become even more delightful, and covered with delicious and desirable things.
And it came to pass that the servant did deliver unto us the food which was called, burro. And this burro was exceedingly fine, yea and the quality thereof was of great craftsmanship. Insomuch that I did devour the burro with great haste. For verily my heart did rejoice in this food. And I did exclaim unto my brother Laman, that this is a good burro!
Yea, and I reflect upon this experience from time to time. And I feel in my heart that this is a good place and that all should come forth and partake of these burro. And I make an end of my speaking...
Read moreIt was my first time in tonight and I wasn't disappointed. I've heard mixed opinions on the place but personally I was very satisfied with my experience. I went in around 5:45 ish and they were busy at the time so I expected to wait but especially because I saw only 3 workers. But they moved very quickly and were very nice as well. They answered any questions I had. Even though they were busy they all seemed very organized and knew exactly what they were doing. The girl helping me on register was very kind. I believe her name was Analysa(not sure how to spell it) I also noticed that they had a lot of Togo orders to bag and there was a good amount of food already waiting to be bagged. But the girl working Togo orders (I did not see her name but she was in a grey Polo shirt) was very quick with it and seemed so organized. She got them all done within minutes which was impressive. There was another girl(also didn't get to see her name but she was wearing a bright blue T-shirt) that I assume was working the drive thru. She seemed really nice anytime she was taking an order or helping other customers waiting on pick up orders. My food came out pretty quickly considering how busy they were and was very tasty. I ordered the number 4 which was recommended by Analysa and it was SO good. I will definitely...
