12/2/23: popped in Saturday around 4:30 for a bite w/ a couple friends. There was a large party happening outdoors but we were seated inside immediately. Our server, Kayley (Kayla? sorry) was very nice and very attentive.
The cheesy mashed potato balls were a hit; I was disappointed they didn't have the corn ribs, but the fried platter (pickles, mozzarella sticks, and Hub chips) was still good w/o them, the chips especially were very well seasoned; the basket of pretzels my friend got as her meal she said was very good.
My sister really enjoyed her H.F.C. (mashed taters, mixed cheese, house gravy, roasted corn, onions & hand battered fried chicken tenderloins). It was a large amount of food, so much so that I think she had leftovers for her next two lunches.
My turkey avo sammy was all right. Unfortunately it had the same problem many do: all the ingredients are piled high in the middle of the bread, making it a pregnant sandwich & a tad difficult to eat if you can't open your mouth wide enough. The coleslaw was creamy but it, too, would have been better if there weren't onions in it.
The apple bread pudding did NOT have raisins, but it was slightly burnt on the top, and it was more apple than bread; def not one I would order again.
If it was just me, I would have given three stars, but since the others really enjoyed their grub -- and because the place was clean, our server was actively keeping track of us -- four stars is a...
Read moreThe 4.4 Star score is pretty deceptive and this place seems to be riding the wave of greatness that has long since passed them by. I've been to this location twice in the last 2 years. The ambiance is great which is the main draw, but the food is the worst tasting version of whatever you order.
Details:
The pizza had large dry risen dough lumps throughout because lack of sauce and cheese.
The "Alaskan Cod fish and chips" as it says on the menu I 100% know it isnt cod. It was pollock which is an inferior fish (Gordon's fish sticks fish) and they charged like it was cod. Tasted like garbage and was warm ish when they brought it out along with the fries that were warm at best. The bread they for some reason brought out with it was as hard as a rock.
Just say you have fish and chips on the menu and that signals to the customer that you can't trust your food vendor and call it good.
Service was amazing, but the food reminded me of why I hadn't visited in a couple years and why I'm writing this review to make sure I see it before I navigate my way there again.
Maybe I'll order the wings everyone raves about and add a star if they're good.
Also if you plan on eating with your drinks (which with food this average I wouldn't blame you for not) you have to order before 10PM because they shut down the kitchen and let you buy drinks so you can enjoy a nice DUI while you're on your way to a drive through before...
Read moreThis is my 6th time coming here. First 5 were great. This time not so much. Granted I am real to the fact that it is a Saturday night. Arrived at 6:30. Food ordered at 6:45 and food out by 7. So far it was good. During this time one of the TVs was playing telemundo. When we asked to change it the waiter told us he would handle it. Which never happened. Next we ordered their Mac n cheese which is normally great. This time it had no cheese at all… The waiter and manager came by and we told them. Both said they would get us a side of cheese sauce. This was at 7:08. Cheese sauce did not come out until 7:24 and by then the food was cold. I did not eat mine because of this and asked the waiter to take it off my bill. His response was “let me see if I can” at 7:36 he finally came to finalize the bill. I asked if the Mac n cheese normally comes with cheese and he said “I wouldn’t know I don’t eat that” When he asked about our experience we were honest and told him that it was not good at all. His response was “well if you want me to get the manager I can” to which I responded to just let me pay and leave. Then he responded with “well hopefully next time it’s better.” To be honest I don’t think there will be...
