⭐ 1 out of 5 stars Two Hands Corn Dogs – 4459 S Power Rd, Mesa
We’ve eaten at the other Two Hands location in Mesa and loved it, so we were excited to see one open near our home. There aren’t many local options around here besides big chains, so we really wanted this place to be good.
I stopped by around 12:30 PM on a Friday to give it a shot despite the bad reviews. It’s only been open about six months, but it already feels poorly managed.
There was only one employee working, a young guy taking orders, cooking, and trying to handle everything alone. The menu isn’t simple, and new customers often have questions. Having one person run the entire store during lunch hour makes no sense.
I ordered one elote and one corn dog at 12:32 PM and didn’t get my food until 1:04 PM. The elote came out cold, which was disappointing after waiting that long.
To be clear, I don’t blame the young man working. He was doing his best. This falls on the owners and management for running the place this way. Honestly, they’d be better off closing temporarily until they can fix these issues so this location actually has a chance...
Read moreI have been to 3 two hands locations (this being one of them) and I can say that this should not even be compared to the other locations and I feel bad for the people who come here expecting the real two hands experience. The corndogs they make here are weirdly bigger than the ones they make at other locations and this is not a good thing, they are usually never cooked all the way through (probably because of how big they are made here) and on multiple accounts I have found hair cooked into the batter....like maybe wear a hair net or tie back your hair. I have also received a mozzarella filled dog (what i usually get) that legit tasted like rubbing alcohol. went back a couple weeks later with a friend and bought 3 more mozzarella dogs and 1 of the 3 ended up tasting like rubbing alcohol again which made my friend get sick and throw up. I think this place needs to be thoroughly managed because the other two locations have been absolutely amazing but this one has basically everything...
Read moreIt was just ok. The service was pretty good. The folks were nice and had our food ready fast. I suspect we’re just not the target market for this food. The “issues” the other reviewer gave of no bag and a stick were kinda funny like it’s a corn dog…yes there is a giant thick stick in it. Use basic logic. But it was easy to work around. The sugar on the crispy dog was unique and added a twist. But I just don’t think we’re corn dog people.
It is kinda annoying that to get a full hot dog in the center you have to pay $1 more since the default mode is 1/2 cheese and 1/2 hot dog. But maybe that’s the gag and we’re just not meant...
