I wanted to like this so much!! Mediterranean food is my favorite and this place is just around the block from my house. We walked up last night 2/10 and the manager or owner (long sleeve, light blue button-down shirt) was out front and he said “hi welcome in,” very nice. We walked up to the counter, and we were half greeted by a woman who you could tell didn’t want to be there. (Red polo, short hair, stretched lobes.) We tell her it’s our first time here. We order a steak kebab, a chicken kebab both with rice and a large Greek salad and the pepper/feta app to share. At no time, did she bother to tell us that the plates come with a Greek salad before the meal. Yes, I could’ve read the menu, but someone who’s paying attention and in customer service could have made this experience so much better. I said it was our first time here which means we have not seen the menu and she knows how quickly we went ahead and ordered after walking up. Would’ve been great if she would’ve just thought to say did you know the plates come with a Greek salad beforehand? Needless to say, I have a full Greek salad to eat today because we didn’t even get to touching it. The portions are huge, which is great since the meals are $18-20. The pepper/feta app was incredible! The steak kebab while cooked perfectly, was way over seasoned with salt. The chicken was okay. During our meal, a sweet young woman (black tee, burgundy-ish hair) came and checked on us. I saw her engaging with other tables as well. She should work the register since first impressions matter! First we got the sandwiches and we're asked if we wanted sides, which they charge for. Second the amount of the side doesn't equally match the price. Although the gyro was reasonably filled, it didn't have a lot of tatziki sauce on it. And none came on the side.
Got over to the drink area, the usual drinks, sweetener but no lemon for the ice tea and no napkins there in case you needed extra. Plenty of ketchup and straws though.
I had to go back to the counter to get my ice cream which was fine, so it didn't melt while I was eating. It was good and tasted just like baklava. So that was good.
While I was there in line, I noticed that there were at least two people in the kitchen with issues (at least to my notice) one had hair pulled up and through the hat but no hair net. Another guy had long hair down to his shoulders, and again no hair net. This is unsanitary and should be addressed. I wouldn't want hair in my food.
The atmosphere was nice but the way it's laid out and setup it was loud from all of the talking. The store could use some minor adjustments or enhancements for better service. Read moreThis weekend my husband and I are celebrating our 30 year anniversary. We came here for lunch and we are so happy we did! From the minute we walked in the door, we felt welcomed by the staff and were pleased with the atmosphere. This place is clean and welcoming. We found a little half booth and settled in.
Anthony, the general manager, brought our salads shortly after we sat down. Holy cow, the dressing is delicious! Zesty and crisp. Full of flavor.
Later our food arrived. We liked the hummus and the gyro meat, but we absolutely loved the chicken and the rice! The tzatziki dip is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Paired with the chicken, it made my mouth sing.
Our favorite part of the meal was the dessert sampler. It consists of a large bowl of rice pudding that rivals Grandma’s, homemade 16 layer baklava, and our favorite part: baklava ice cream. Anthony mixes his homemade baklava into vanilla bean ice cream to create this creamy cold delight. The honey drizzle on top makes it dreamy! We even ordered some to take home. This is now my husband’s favorite ice cream, and he plans to make the drive from Maricopa to get it again soon!
