Review #2: I find myself back at Hooligans to sample the elixir I so enjoy. This time I opted for a Cortado with a hint of Hooligans Lavender Cardamom and my standard Cappuccino. āA little dry, in a mug.ā
While the presentation was respectable, my cappuccino was more of a latte. Here again the flavor forward of aspect I enjoy was overshadowed by the milk. Hence, the latte reference. However, where the cappuccino failed to hit the mark again the Cortado was delish.
The house made syrup was simply on point, providing flavor while being subservient to the bean. Moreover, the hint of foam that held the syrup blended quite well with the flavor of the underlying coffee. Well done Hooligans.
So, I leave Hooligans a bit vexed. I guess I will have to try a third time. Cheers to that. Enjoy.
Review #1: I recently tried Hooligans, a new addition to the east valley coffee culture. I found the atmosphere very inviting. However, if you plan to work for a bit, space is limited. No worries, I was there to meet another aficionado of the elixir and talk shop for an hour.
The service was very friendly. I chose the usual, I am nothing if not consistent. I must say my croissant was much better than what the Phoenix market typically offers. Cappuccino I ordered āa bit dryā in a mug. The presentation was well done, demonstrating the craftsmanship I look for. The cappuccino itself wasnāt as flavor forward I would expect given the dry request. Rather, it was a touch on the wet side, favoring the foam.
Regardless, Hooligans is a welcome addition the the East Valley and I will certainly pay them more visits. If you happen to be near, stop by, have a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHooligans is a cute shop. With cool vibes, plenty of seating, and a quick staff, it seems ideal. When I pulled up the line was out the door. But with the speed of the staff, the line was moving quick! When it was my turn to order, I ordered a cappuccino with almond milk and cinnamon powder. my order was out within 3 min, although the speed was there what i had ordered was not. To start off, there was no cinnamon powder. But I understand itās an easy thing to forget, especially with two people working the line on a busy Saturday, nothing to worry about. Where my concern is what I received can be compared more to a cortado than a cappuccino. There was zero frothed milk in this capp, leaving it half full. I paid $5 for a cappuccino and was disappointed to not receive it. The taste was fine, the coffee I believe was a medium-light roast. Overall I think this new coffee shop is okay. Aside from the disappointment from my coffee, people were loving the iced lattes, the pastries, and the tacos. Thereās plenty of space, clean environment and a friendly staff. Its a good place, with some space for...
Ā Ā Ā Read more3.5 stars They only have teeny tiny coffees,no other sizes and limited flavors. I got the honey cinnamon latte, which was tasty, couldāve used a bit more honey but a nice presentation. Spouse got the mocha which he said he liked because it tasted like coffee unfortunately you could not taste the mocha. I recommend they get the DARK chocolate syrup from Torani. The small coffees were about six dollars apiece, which is crazy. They do have oat milk which we got. Atmosphere was pleasant and the service was nice. I asked why they donāt serve other sizes and they said to āmodernizeā. If they serve med & large sizes and had more flavor in their coffees, they would get a 5 star unfortunately I do not like small coffees for that price, especially. Originally, we were gonna get the coffees to go, but because they were so small, we drank them very quickly and did not need...
