UPDATED REVIEW: After talking with the owners I was impressed with their level of wanting to make things right AND explaining why they were having some of the issues. Some is just consistency of how bread is sliced, some is just communication glitches, and some is availability of items. I was asked to try the meals again and we did and they were much better. We then placed a to go order a week or 2 later and it was decent. I think the food is good, but not my exact taste. I appreciate the effort and communication from the owners and give 5 stars there! So give it a try and maybe you'll enjoy it. And if something is off, get their attention and let them make it right so they can continue to improve. The concept is great and they have a lot of heart so I hope they continue to get better and better!
I have tried this place 3 times now since they opened....each time wanting to like it because it is such a great concept of whole, healthy food and is locally driven. But every time it's been poor service and the food is maybe a 5 out of 10. We try to support local and rarely say a thing negative but this pushes the envelope for me. Today was the most disappointing as the food rang up much higher than posted and when I asked why the price rung up was so much higher I was told their prices changed and they will get the menu board updated in the "next couple of months". I understand prices need to go up with today's times and rising costs but the difference was $10 to $12.50, $10 to $11.50, and $10 to $13.50.....even having a sign as other restaurants do....stating prices may not be correct on the menu board due to rising costs would have changed my perception but for anyone on a budget a $7.50 unexpected cost above what is posted would be enough to change my selections and really made me think they do not care about their customers. It seems very misleading. If there was time to change the price in the register surely there was thought to changing what the customer thinks they are being charged as well? At this point I decided to let it go hoping the food would finally live up to the hype. Sadly, it did not, again. Three bad experiences now tells me I either have terrible luck or there is an issue here. I am a huge sourdough fan but this sourdough was so full of holes, chewy, and over toasted at the same time. I understand sourdough is an art and never a perfect thing, but this was so tough and overdone there is no way it should have been served, and the three of us could not eat it at all. We all ended up eating the small amount of sandwhich insides on the 3 we ordered and cut our losses. I wanted to love and support this place but after 3 strikes it's a no from me. At almost a $20 average a person for a drink and sandwhich that isn't that great...time for some revamping here. We walked out after spending $52 on lunch (including 2 of their smallest drinks) and went home for an actual edible lunch. Hoping they can make some adjustments and rebound but I'd steer clear for now and...
Read moreI had been wanting to check out The Alley, and finally stopped in for lunch. The menu selection is great, offering a nice variety of sandwiches and salads, as well as a very extensive beverage menu. Both my lunch guest and I went with a recommendation of another customer, and ordered the avocado toast, from the breakfast menu. It was the perfect option for both of us. The service was excellent and although those gals were all busting butt over the noon hour, the were so pleasant and always smiling. Congratulations Kaci on such a lovely...
