š„ š„ š„ this place is FUEGO! I stopped in cause I needed change for a $20 and decided to buy something cause it looked dead inside with one person at a table and two ladies behind the counter so I took a gamble and I was worried cause it was an expensive gamble I did take for ONE Al Pastor Taco with everything(onions cilantro and salsa), plated with a little tiny tostada with refried beans smeared on it(I ate my taco over the tostada so the juices went on the beans and the meat/onions that fell off my taco landed on it,making it a delicious addition) and they put a couple lemon slices on the plate(which was nice cause the new normal for Taquerias is to make you ask,or pay extra, for lemons/limes when they used to always be included so I appreciated that touch) and the total was $4.00!
Okay, so for a $4.00 taco I was worried and instantly regretted spending the money when I only came in for change. I asked they lady for an extra piece of foil to secure my food as I was on my bike and she kindly without hesitation obliged, so I must say their customer service was awesome and from the cashier to the cook, both ladies were sweet and friendly as well as prompt and attentive to the needs of their patrons. I witnessed this cause even though it was dad when I walked in people started to trickle in while I was waiting and I watched the cook go to the back where you could see a young man cutting slices of carne and she went straight to the man and grabbed a few slices of carne to put in the grill. This shows me that they keep all their meat fresh and there isn't a back pile of frostbitten meat in their freezer otherwise she would have got it from the fridge, also you could see in the downtime the cook had that she had just banged out some fresh tortillas and they sat there separated by thin pieces of wax paper awaiting their turn to be delicately placed on the grill next to the sizzling carne. So I would say for the truly fresh ingredients and the full proportioned size of the taco and the exemplary service it was all well worth the price tag paid!
What's hidden gem this place is, I will be back soon. I'm nervous to know the price of their dinner platters but I know for facts it will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas downtown Gilroy looking for a place to eat, when out of the corner of my eyes I caught the tacos del Guero sign. After flipping a U-ee we pulled into a fairly sizable parking lot that has plenty of parking just for their business. There is some nice signage on the building. As I walked inside I noticed the left side where all the seating is was blacked out. they are definitely a mom and pop āask the localsā kind of place. . I asked the lady if she had a menu and she said no however she spent the time to let me know what kind of meats and food they served. The ladies behind the counter were super nice and even smiled when I took pictures. Wifey needs to use the rest room, they were nice enough to let her use it, even With this crazy āCh-eye-naā virus going on. They have condiments underneath a steel closed lid container that you can access yourself. I ordered a super burrito with L Pastore and wifey ordered three street tacos one with Carnitas and two with steak. They will give you salsa red, green or both on the side, The green was super flavorful with very little heat, the red was more for us spicy loving people but I felt the flavor was not quite as developed as the green. When I tore open my burrito the first thing I noticed was the shell had been toasted nicely and actually had a really good flavor the burrito had beans, rice, juicy help Pastor meet, with whole cut avocado slices inside. Adding the green salsa added a whole ānotherā dimension to the flavor. The price point is actually really good at this place at $9:50 per person including drinks. Bottom line..... good food, service and price....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food is overpriced. When I asked about providing 10 breakfast burritos, the quote was 300 hundred dollars. I began an interior painting of the location and left it here to work on when I returned, however, not only did they not attempt to communicate regardless of the quality of my Spanish. Then they entirely informed me they were unable to understand the Spanish translation I wrote out. They didn't try. Some other customers that said they understood English and could help out, smiled and nodded at me and did nothing! How can I help bring a clearer picture of how this business operates when, because of my skin color, I am treated like an ignorant white boy? Then they joked about me like I couldn't understand them after telling them I could I just didn't speak Spanish well. It is not a strategy to continue a community engaging business. I do not believe I shall return, refer anyone here. I do not expect them to understand why they business will...
