A warning to anyone who's previously enjoyed Stanley's prior to November/December 2024 and are debating coming back: It is not worth your time anymore.
My dad and I frequented Stanley's twice a month for over two years and absolutely adored it until recently. It's under new ownership and we had the chance to sit down and talk with the new owner. A lot was said, but our sticking point was a simple one: He said he wasn't planning on making any significant changes to the food.
This was ultimately not true.
The food itself is still the same on paper, but prices have gone up and the food quality has gone down. The eggs are smaller. The sausage links have gone from the kind where the casing gets nice and crispy on the ends to something that looks like it came out of a frozen breakfast box. The waffles that used to come out brown and crispy come out soft and kinda chewy. The syrup is thinner and quite flavorless when compared to it's predecessor. The bacon used to come out flat and, if you wanted, often fall apart crispy in your mouth, but now comes out thinner, curling over on itself, and bland. It's pretty clear the new owner is cutting costs the one place it matters most: the food.
An absolutely tragic fall from grace for a food spot in Gladstone that's been in business longer than...
Read moreThe service by a female waitresses was awful. She did bring the food to the table but that was it. She even left for the night.... No one even came to give us the bill... I asked what was good as it had been 22 years since we'd been there. She actually said "I'm not going to tell you what's bad since I work here haha I can't ". As we left a male waiter acknowledged us... That was more service than the waitresses gave.
Another waitresses was sick and left the bar abruptly.. We heard her go in the back and a man said go throw up in the office.... That just what you want to here while . E waiting for your food.
Our waitress was saying to coworkers in the back she always wanted to know how to do a spin jump kick. The man who told the other waitresses where to puck... Told her "here let me show you" ... Then another guy challenge him to a kick off... Really we just want our food.
So our waitresses was comfortable on the bar stock chatting with the staff behind the bar while I waited for a refill soda. Never came so while in a leg cast I hobbled over to get the refill myself.
To Stanley's owners, you need to be onsite Saturday nights and do training... Letting them know that it is not acceptable to ignore your customers.. Also that in the age of social media you have to be...
Read moreYou don't even need to walk in the door and the first thing that grabs your attention is the odor. We thought maybe the garbage man hasn't emptied the dumpster yet, besides it's got decent reviews, let's go in. Holy crap, it was worse inside. In addition to the stink, it was old, dark and dingy. We sat down in a booth and the seats were dirty and greasy, the creases of the seat were filled with food, it was gross. The waiter was pleasant when he came around, otherwise was preoccupied with coworkers and only came to the table to serve the food and pick up the money. We came because we've always wanted to try the "famous" nachos. Well I did, and they were famously a joke. Listen, you're going to see the good reviews, then you'll see mine and you'll say, this guy probably smokes crack. I think you need to smoke crack to eat here. But please don't take my word for it, go, eat and experience it, then come back and report. By the way, did I say they served the chips separately from the nacho toppings, and they're served in a napkin? Sometimes when I have a bad experience eating out, it might be due to it just opening or a new nervous employee or even broken equipment, etc, and I'll give it a second chance before writing a bad review. Not Stanley's Corner, no...
