We’re based locally and tried Millie’s for the first time over Labor Day Weekend with our family. The location cannot be beat, and we were able to head over after a 3 hour paddle down the Crystal River. I was so glad the shop mirrored the previous restaurant in that it was small and cozy with plenty of outdoor seating facing the river. The model of this business, with a limited menu and sold by the slice may be unfamiliar but honestly it’s really refreshing and easy. There are two dozen other pizza places in the area when you can get a Double Cheeseburger Chicken Buffalo Pizza and if that’s your thing by all means get it, but if you have a love for really simple and good ingredients and Detroit deep dish pizza I think you’ll love this. The sauce stood out the most for its tangy-ness and we loved the classic pepperoni that curls up at the side. A huge bonus was that the pizzas were prepared in the morning fresh and so ordering is super quick and efficient. Our relatives thought the price point was a bit high but $25 feels really reasonable for a delicious and super filling pizza. 2 heavy and topping- laden pizzas will fill you up, and if they do ever expand their menu I’m sure the others will be awesome as well. We can officially say this is one of the top 5 pizza places in the region in our books and plan to make it a weekly thing. Folks who say this pizza is unaffordable seem to think eating out and buying food from a restaurant isn’t a luxury, and a $6 slice of good pizza still rings true to the area, both for tourists and locals I believe. Definitely recommend checking this place out, I don’t think you’ll be...
Read moreWe thought we were coming to Riverside but saw that it is now Millie's with a complete makeover. The woman at the counter was curt, no smile to greet us, not even a hello before telling me I had to take my dog outside (okay fine, but say hello first), and acted like she'd rather be someplace else. The guy making the pizzas in the back was very friendly and happily chatted with me about the transition from Riverside to Millie's. Sat outside on a picnic table on a beautiful fall day. When our pizza was delivered to us by the cashier woman, she merely set the pizza box down and left. Not even a "enjoy your pizza" or "let me know if there is anything else you need" Despite her, the pizza was out of this world. We loved it and will be back for more. I do think the price was high for a 4 piece square pizza ($24) but I suppose it reflects the clientele of Glen Arbor. One other comment, we were disappointed to see a sign by the river that said "No Kayaks, No Canoes, No Paddleboarders" This is a river side restaurant with a dock/deck on the water--you used to be able to stop by while kayaking and take a break and get a slice of pizza, but apparently they don't want anyone stopping anymore. It kind of ruins the light, fun atmosphere when all you see are "No" signs posted. How about instead, "Welcome kayakers--hungry? float over for slice of pizza and cold drink" This to me, my friend, is marketing. Just some suggestions. And, tell your cashier woman to smile and greet people. It's not that hard. Pizza 5 Stars,...
Read moreCame here August 23, 2023. Meant to always post a review. It was such a memorable poor experience we started talking about it today so I finally decided to post a review I always intended. The pizza was like Jets pizza but with better ingredients however the pricing was outrageous. The slice size was half of a normal Jets pizza slice. The pizza price per slice was the equivalent to New York City pricing except in New York you can actually call it a meal.
On top of all of this we noticed we were going to get multiple slices together. Back then the menu said you could order per slice or get what seemed to be a full pizza because most pizzas normally do cost $20-25. So we went for that option. When we received the order and opened the box we were quickly disappointed to find out it was 4 slices that you could barely add up to what was normally half a pizza anywhere else. I forgot to mention changing our minds from switching from slices to what seemed to be a full pizza, we were met with frustration from the workers about changing the order in the system while we were still being rung up. It’s not like we even paid yet.
For the quantity you get here they have to display the amount you will receive because this was a shock to the 4 of us.
We keep bringing this bad experience up to so many friend groups and I always remember I intended to write a review because the experience felt so...
