Ok this is the first review I ever had trouble writing... first off this is the original Mission BBQ. I have been eating here since it first opened in 2011. My son was a Corpsmen in the Navy and I was determined to support a restaurant that took care of the military and of first responders. In 2013 I married a law enforcement officer and that was one more reason to eat there. ( took him for lunch and he was hooked). Fast track to their expansions... I travel a lot for work and if I am in a city where they have Mission BBQ, I make it a point to eat there. There food is always yummy and I really like the Sampler, the Black Plate Special and at holiday time is their yummy Warm Caramel Bread Pudding. I can walk into any Mission BBQ and my service is always consistent as any other location... which is excellent! I can’t help telling the staff when I walk in that they have big shoes to fill because Glen Burnie, MD is my home restaurant! 😉. On the flip side of that I will occasionally run into the manager at Glen Burnie Marty Atkinson and I will tell him where I’ve been. Jokingly I’m the secret shopper. This week I lost my son the Corpsmen and I went to the Glen Burnie location to order food to be catered and I have to tell you that this is the most sensitive and caring manager of any restaurant that I’ve ever met and and I’m pretty sure that almost all of them at Mission are like this. Marty Atkinson really took care of of us. I told him about my sons service and that he served in Afghanistan. He looked at our pictures of my young son and his beautiful wife and my beautiful 10 year old granddaughter.. And went over our order and he REALLY made sure that we don’t have worry about anything! So please patron this establishment and all of the others if you can. Purchase the big cup because you will be supporting, local First responders, Military, and Wreaths Across America. The food is yummy and YOU WILL NOT BE...
Read moreIts a shame how you can fall in love with a restaurant the first time you try it out and then come back and your visit is not at all the same (One Bad Apple). Don't get me wrong the food was great both times but the first time everyone was so warm and welcoming when i told them it was my first time there I even had a guy (I really wish I could remember his name because he was great) tell me that I would love my food and I would be back. So today I show up to pick up my order and my HOST: Sydney made me change my mind her attitude was horrible I had been waiting for her to finish up with the customer in front of me and when she did she completely looked right thru me and asked the lady behind me could she help her (believe me if u saw me u couldn't miss me lol) even the lady behind me looked at me like what was that about so when Sydney finally took my money for order she yelled to the back for my order as if it bothered her and then blew me off So I asked Sydney if I could have my 2 cups that I paid for with my order and she was very rude and disrespectful when she snatched my 2 cups from behind the register and slammed them on the counter smh I remained very calm thru it all and I even noticed that plenty of her coworkers noticed what was going on as well. Its just so crazy to me because I've never met this girl a day in my life so I'm really lost to the fact that she only had a problem with me but nobody else!!!!!! Also like I said in the beginning the food was GREAT both times and that one guy was the best both visits he is so welcoming and you can tell he loves what he does i wish i could remember his name so I could send...
Read moreUpdated November 26, 2023 Wow. So sad to update this review, but after today's visit, I am changing my rating due to serve, staff and atmosphere. Both my spouse and I are vets and I'm retired army, so we are kind of the target audience. We have loved going to here and have previously enjoyed our visits. The visit today, however, was a completely different story. My husband went inside to order take out. He apparently "went in the wrong door". It was the door that we have always gone in before, but that is apparently now only for pick up customers and he got rudely scolded by the cashier. He was then treated like poop for the remainder of the transaction.
The employee asked him if he was in the white car, and mistook his car (because it was the same color, but different make/model) for a car that was causing trouble earlier out in the main strip mall parking lot and called the cops.
A random "helpful citizen" patron tried to contain my spouse until a cop showed up. The cop talked to my spouse and Surprise Surprise!! after being treated absolutely horribly by the staff and letting other customers aware and get involved, he was not the the evil doer. He never should have been treated that way and it should not have gotten to the extent that other customers were made aware and allowed to get involved. Oh, and the icing on the cake, they didn't give him is fries. Whoomp whoomp.
Original review: Always amazing...
