Super Tacos Oaxaca — Restaurant in Maryland

UPDATE: Another 5 stars!!! I came in town again (I live out of state) and my same friend and I couldn't wait to come back. One reason we came the first time was that they advertised watermelon margaritas and we really wanted one, but they didn't have any. We were a little disappointed but the food and alternatives drinks more than made up for it. This visit, we were hoping for the watermelon margaritas but they didn't have them again. We started to leave but decided to stay for lite food. Our waitress Brenda was happy that we stayed and was kind enough to send someone out to get watermelon just for us and it was well worth it. Fresh blended watermelon with chunks of watermelon in the margarita. So good, we ordered a total of 4 of them. Brenda and the other waitress (we didn't get her name) were extremely kind and accommodating. If I had to give one critique, it would be that the restaurant should be sure to have in stock what they advertise, but other than that, this was my second visit here and both visits were excellent!!!

Excellent!!! One of my best friends and I researched a place for good birria tacos and just good authentic Mexican food. We lucked up on this gem!!! From start to finish, EVERYTHING was amazing!!! We were greeted by our wonderful waitress, Patricia. She served us freshly cooked chips and amazing salsa to start. I couldn’t decide on getting guacamole or queso dip to start so I got both. OMG!!! Both were equally amazing and I layered them together with the salsa…SO OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD!!! I got the shrimp chimichanga and a side of Mexican corn. Food was so good, I mostly ate with my eyes closed to savor every bite lol. Every ingredient in the chimichanga had flavor. Most times, mixing the ingredients gives it the flavor but this was the first time that I could taste that each ingredient (the rice, shrimp, beans, etc) was seasoned before they put everything together. Soooooo good!! My friend loved her birria tacos!!! The margaritas were huge. Very flavorful but not too strong. It gives a nice comfortable buzz where you can still drive home afterwards lol. And not sure if he was the owner or manager, but a very kind gentleman came out at the end and offered us churros for dessert on the house. OMG!!! So good. Freshly cooked, crispy and sugary on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside with a very lite cream filling…served with ice cream. Just delicious. To top it all off, Patricia truly was a sweet and attentive waitress. She took the time to engage us in lite conversation and told us about different specialties on different nights. Their chips were super fresh!!

STAMP!! Their Strawberry Banana Milkshake ($8.50). Thick, sweet, & tasty just like I like’em!!

STAMP!! Their Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers ($13 with cheese in the middle). STAMP!! Spicy, cheesy, with BACON!!

STAMP!! Their Super Sampler ($18 with chicken empanadas, chicken Falutas, nachos with sour cream, Guac, cotija cheese, jalapeños, pico de gallo, creama, & bacon wrapped jalapeños). Not aesthetically pleasing, but EVERYTHING on this platter HIT!!

DELICIOUS!! Their Machete ($16 with chicken, pickled onions, tomato, avocado, lettuce, cilantro, & radishes). Well executed, it just lacked flavor.

DELICIOUS. Their Chori -Pollo ($17 Chorizo on top of grilled chicken with cheese, pico de gallo, jalapeño, black beans, & rice). Pleasing to the eye, but a tad bit salty.

STAMP!! Their Chimichanga ($15 a deep fried shrimp stuffed burrito, topped with Mexican cheese, pico de gallo, jalapeños, & a side salad). This is the BEST chimichanga I’ve ever had!! A seafood seasoning, crunchy, cheesy, & thick!!

STAMP!! Their Birria Tacos ($16 for 3 tacos with a meaty consummé). Perfectly done!! Cheesy, a cooked shell, with meaty succulent consumme!!

STAMP!! Their $5 Margaritas (Tamarind with a sugar rim, Spicy Mango with a Tajin rim, & a spicy mojito with a chili salt rim). Strong, & tasty!! . Customer Service: On Point . Parking: Decent. . Accessibility: Wheelchair friendly, & differently abled persons accessible. . The Inside: Comfortable seating, & clean. . Recommendations: Get that chimichanga with shrimp!!

I thought I had found a new favorite spot. My family and I visited this restaurant on Saturday evening and enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance so much that we decided to order takeout on Sunday.

On Saturday, we ordered Birria Tacos, Guacamole, Queso, Chicken Quesadilla, Milkshakes, and a large platter that included fish, calamari, fries, and more. The bill totaled over $215. As I mentioned, the Birria Tacos and Milkshakes were so good that we decided to order the same items for takeout on Sunday, along with trying the Shrimp Tacos.

When my fiancé returned home with the food, I noticed that the Birria Tacos were missing the dipping sauce and the strawberry milkshakes had no flavor. I called the restaurant to report these issues, and after being placed on hold without a resolution, I suggested coming in to pick up the missing sauce and get replacements for the milkshakes.

When I arrived at the restaurant, they refused to replace the milkshakes because I hadn’t brought the original ones back (It was cold outside, and I didn’t want to carry the milkshakes). They still wouldn’t replace them. I couldn’t believe it. This level of customer service is unacceptable. I had already driven back to the restaurant to retrieve the missing sauce and hadn’t even asked for compensation, yet they still wouldn’t replace the milkshakes. I also mentioned to the person helping me that I had dined there the night before and spent over $200, but he didn’t care.

I was floored. I will not return to this establishment because the food and service are inconsistent, and everything we ordered on Sunday was...
