The sushi here is good and comparable to other places in the area. The reason I gave them two starts is because the customer service is poor here. I did not fully understand the âall you can eatâ concept so my husband ordered all you can eat sushi and I ordered an entree from the dinner menu. The waitress said that was fine to do I just didnât understand that meant we couldnât share or I couldnât have a bite of his sushi. Anyway they brought my entree out well before they brought out the sushi so I ate that and then after I was finished with my meal they brought out the sushi. From start to finish the waitress watched my every move while I was eating to make sure I wasnât eating my husbandâs sushi. I wasnât sure that I was doing anything wrong but her approach and behavior was so off putting that I felt really uncomfortable. As Iâm reaching for my second piece of sushi she rushes over to our table and practically scolds me (in front of other customers too) and says âno you cannot do that!â I replied that I didnât know the rules and she could charge us for two all you can eat dinners and the entree and she said then it was fine.
Ultimately her behavior really ruined my dinner and made me feel super uncomfortable as I was just trying to enjoy a nice dinner with my husband. She ended up only charging us for one all you can eat and said thatâs because âI only had a couple piecesâ but at that point I didnât care what she charged us. Overall I personally wouldnât come back but if you are fine with poor customer service but decent sushi then this place...
Read moreIâve never experienced such blatant discrimination and appalling customer service in my life. Hokkai Sushi is a disgrace to the hospitality industry. From the moment we walked in, the treatment we received was utterly shocking and unacceptable.
It was clear that we were being judged and treated differently based on our ethnicity. The staff were dismissive, rude, and outright racist. Meanwhile, the white customers seated next to us were treated with kindness and respect, receiving attentive service that we were deliberately denied. It was disgusting to witness.
The server blatantly lied to us, saying drinks were included, only to charge us for them later. When we brought this up with the manager, her response was beyond rude. She condescendingly told us we should have known their policy since theyâve been open for 10 years. This is laughableâhow would we know that if it was not communicated? Instead of resolving the issue, she refused to take any responsibility and still charged us.
Throughout the meal, we endured stares, dirty looks, and a general sense of hostility. The food was practically thrown at us as if we were unwelcome intruders rather than paying customers. Speaking of the foodâdonât bother. The sushi was mediocre at best, definitely not worth the premium prices or the blatant disrespect.
This wasnât just bad service; this was targeted discrimination. If you value your dignity, money, or taste buds, avoid Hokkai Sushi at all costs. Their behavior is unacceptable, and no one should support a business that thrives on...
