The sushi here is good and comparable to other places in the area. The reason I gave them two starts is because the customer service is poor here. I did not fully understand the “all you can eat” concept so my husband ordered all you can eat sushi and I ordered an entree from the dinner menu. The waitress said that was fine to do I just didn’t understand that meant we couldn’t share or I couldn’t have a bite of his sushi. Anyway they brought my entree out well before they brought out the sushi so I ate that and then after I was finished with my meal they brought out the sushi. From start to finish the waitress watched my every move while I was eating to make sure I wasn’t eating my husband’s sushi. I wasn’t sure that I was doing anything wrong but her approach and behavior was so off putting that I felt really uncomfortable. As I’m reaching for my second piece of sushi she rushes over to our table and practically scolds me (in front of other customers too) and says “no you cannot do that!” I replied that I didn’t know the rules and she could charge us for two all you can eat dinners and the entree and she said then it was fine.

Ultimately her behavior really ruined my dinner and made me feel super uncomfortable as I was just trying to enjoy a nice dinner with my husband. She ended up only charging us for one all you can eat and said that’s because “I only had a couple pieces” but at that point I didn’t care what she charged us. Overall I personally wouldn’t come back but if you are fine with poor customer service but decent sushi then this place...

I’ve never experienced such blatant discrimination and appalling customer service in my life. Hokkai Sushi is a disgrace to the hospitality industry. From the moment we walked in, the treatment we received was utterly shocking and unacceptable.

It was clear that we were being judged and treated differently based on our ethnicity. The staff were dismissive, rude, and outright racist. Meanwhile, the white customers seated next to us were treated with kindness and respect, receiving attentive service that we were deliberately denied. It was disgusting to witness.

The server blatantly lied to us, saying drinks were included, only to charge us for them later. When we brought this up with the manager, her response was beyond rude. She condescendingly told us we should have known their policy since they’ve been open for 10 years. This is laughable—how would we know that if it was not communicated? Instead of resolving the issue, she refused to take any responsibility and still charged us.

Throughout the meal, we endured stares, dirty looks, and a general sense of hostility. The food was practically thrown at us as if we were unwelcome intruders rather than paying customers. Speaking of the food—don’t bother. The sushi was mediocre at best, definitely not worth the premium prices or the blatant disrespect.

This wasn’t just bad service; this was targeted discrimination. If you value your dignity, money, or taste buds, avoid Hokkai Sushi at all costs. Their behavior is unacceptable, and no one should support a business that thrives on...

In the heart of Glen Ellyn, IL, there's a culinary treasure that's been consistently serving up satisfaction for at least eight years, and I've been a loyal patron through it all. Hokkai Sushi, a name synonymous with quality and delectable Japanese cuisine, has been my go-to spot for the best shrimp fried rice one could ever hope to find.

From the moment you step into Hokkai Sushi, the inviting ambiance and the promise of an exceptional dining experience draw you in. Their all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner menu is not only a testament to their generosity but also a showcase of their extensive culinary skills. Every dish is prepared with care, aiming to please the palate of each guest that walks through their doors.

The standout, however, has always been their shrimp fried rice. This dish alone is worth the trip, offering a perfect balance of flavors that leaves you craving more before you've even finished. It's a masterpiece of simplicity and taste, making it clear why this establishment has earned its place in the hearts of many, including mine.

For anyone in the Glen Ellyn area or those planning a visit, Hokkai Sushi is a must-try. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or someone who appreciates the finer points of a well-executed fried rice, this place will not disappoint. It's not just a meal; it's an experience that keeps you coming...

A good AYCE experience. They have a decent variety of rolls available on the AYCE menu - Philadelphia, California, eel, salmon, salmon skin, sweet potato, shrimp tempura, crab, spicy tuna. The Rock & Roll was great - Eel, crabmeat, avocado, cream cheese, masago, and deep fried. It also has some appetizer options included, which was nice - edamame, gyoza (these were excellent!), Vegetable tempura, soups, etc. And they had some nigiri on the AYCE menu too. The salmon was good, but I didn't enjoy the octopus - it was dry and chewy. Service wasn't particularly fast or slow - we were able to eat all we wanted in about 45 min. Lunch price was $15.99 per person. I assume they charge you for what you don't finish, but we were conservative at the end and didn't have anything left.

This is our very favorite sushi place. We especially like the all-you-can-eat. There are more options for dinner than lunch. The cost for AYCE has gone up so we don't go as often, especially since the kids count as adults now. The fish is fresh. The food is tasty. The service is quick unless theyre really crowded. My son loves their gyoza. My daughter loves their masago sushi, sweet potato rolls and the shumai. It's always piping hot. My other daughter loves their Philadelphia roll, shumai and eel rolls. You can't go wrong with the sesame balls. They are always delicious and freshly fried and hot! The kids also love to get a few bowls of miso soup. It's always hot. My favorite is the tuna and eel. My husband enjoys the freshly cooked salmon skin roll. Now I want sushi!

I’ve only been here twice. According to their website, it says the ayce is something like $27. It’s a bit higher than the last time I was there. I haven’t been back in awhile since there are a lot more options now. I’ll share some pictures, the menu is pretty much the same. If you are craving for sushi and on a budget, it’s a good deal. If you care about the quality and have been to others, I would say the quality is eh.. mediocre. Nothing that would wow you. As for me, the quality was average, nothing more. Definitely check this place out if you don’t feel like going to the Schaumburg area and are in the mood for a sushi fest.
