We booked our baby shower here about 2 months before the date for the Side Car room. We thought we'd have about 25 guests at first, but we ended up having 50, which they were able to accommodate. The max capacity for that room is 60 people. They have a package where you can choose either a sit down (slightly more expensive), or a buffet and you get to choose four entrees. Drinks are included in the price (bloody marys, mimosas, wine, and beer). For food, we ended up picking the salmon with vegetables, steak, French toast with bacon and sausage, and penne vodka. It was a nice variety and our guests were saying how much they enjoyed the food. If you want dessert, it's an extra fee per person so we ended up bringing a custom cake from the bakery across the street.
If you want to decorate, there is a rectangular table they can set up, and two round high-tops. I'm sure they can set up more if you want, but it depends on how many guests you have. I would say 50 guests was a little bit snug but it was doable. There is one bathroom in the room so with that many guests, some people ended up using the restaurant bathroom instead of waiting. There's a sound system you can hook up to but only for iPhone because the android cable wasn't working so if you have an android, be sure to bring your own cords. My only feedback would be the bar situation. We had two people working our event, so they were handling everything - food, cleanup, and the bar. I felt that our guests weren't really able to take advantage of the bar because most of the time, no one was manning the bar, so there was confusion if it was self-serve or if they needed to wait for a bartender. If you can, I would splurge a little extra for the sit-down option because then maybe you can get carafes of drinks at each table. Or maybe you can get carafes with the buffet too, but it wasn't something I thought to ask beforehand since I didn't think it would be an issue for our guests to get a drink.
Overall, everything still went great and I would recommend Fitzgerald's if you have a...
Read moreI was looking forward to trying Fitzgerald’s. Unfortunately, I experienced the most amount of sexism I’ve ever had at a restaurant, which is pretty stunning and really not how I wanted my Friday evening to go. It felt like a bad episode of the 1950s. I was treating my partner to dinner and tried to pay in cash. I provided a $100 bill to cover the cost and asked our waitress to use that to cover the cost of the meal and provide me the change. Instead of providing the change, our waitress returned confused and gave us a set of $20s and tried to clarify with my male partner - even though I was the one handing the cash and had been speaking with her directly. I even interjected at one point to say I was the one paying. Then she returned to our table and, again, instead of providing the change, she threw down a couple $20s and the wrong amount of coins and said, “I don’t know what you want. I’m busy with other tables.” I was pretty shocked at that point - I literally just wanted to pay in cash, get the difference, and allocate her tip from the change. When I spoke with the male host about my experience, even though I was making direct eye contact with him and told him how I tried to pay, the host turned to my male partner to offer a complimentary cocktail. It felt like a bizarre episode of the 1950s. I told the host that the experience quite frankly sucked and that I wouldn’t...
Read moreCame here for Brunch this past Sunday from brunch reviews I’ve read. Although I had been here before, a happy hour years ago, I never got a chance to sit down and eat. Nestled on a quiet street in Glen Ridge, right off Bloomfield Avenue, its decor and charm reminds you of something from the Revolutionary era. We arrived at 1130 so it was pretty quiet which was enjoyable .
First and foremost, our server Cynthia was incredible. Informative, funny and took very good care of us. My wife started out with a mimosa, myself a Bloody Mary. I personally did not like it, tasted like a watered down cocktail sauce. Food and drink are subjective so I’m sure others do enjoy it. I followed it up with an Irish Coffee over Ice. Was pretty decent. In to the food which had a nice selection, especially a lobster roll I couldn’t pull the trigger on
My wife had the Eggs Benedict and a Lemon Ricotta Pancake. She enjoyed both. I had the Flat Iron Steak w/eggs and fries. Was a nice piece, good char but was average at best, eggs were over cooked but was completely ok and the French fries, may just have been the best fries I’ve had in my life.
Overall, 5 drinks, a soda and both the meals ended up being like $72 which is a win in itself for brunch. I’m definitely going to make my way back here and check out the dinner menu since I have read some...
