MAMA MIA MEXICAN CUISINE. El Verdadero Sabor De México — Restaurant in Glen Rose

I hadn't been to this place in a couple of years because I wasnt impressed with their food, particularly their salsa and there wasnt anything else that stood out about the place back then.

There are several Mexican or Tex-Mex options within a half mile of each other and I had been frequenting another place for years, but the service has deteriorated at my old hang out to the point that 3 out of my last 4 visits there I was ignored from the the time my food was served waiting for up to 45 minutes with an empty glass and I decided to give Mama Mia's another shot.

Since my last visit, they have refurbished the entire place and they did it very well with a huge outdoor seating area with plenty of shade and a huge flat-screen TV for watching sports.

Mama Mia's food has also been kicked up from a 3 star to 5 stars for me and the service has been better than 5 stars, its good enough that I have eaten there 3 times in the last 8 days and will be returning tomorrow.

Mama Mia's is my new favorite restaurant out of all in my town.

My only suggestion to management would be to turn the music down a few decibels.

EDIT I got adventurous last week and tried the "Mama Mia Tacos" made with really tender strips of rib-eye steak and it was awesome.

If you're a fan of heat, this dish is served with "burn sauce" on the side, but be cautious because even though I regularly eat fresh jalapeno and serrano peppers, the burn sauce was several steps up on the Scoville chart, in other words it lit me up!

I also tried their "Tres Leches" cake for desert to help tame the burn from the burn sauce which helped, but the cake itself was excellent and I will be ordering it regularly as well.

Service has exceeded a 5 star rating...

Her version: It’s nice to have a spot to charge in a smaller town. Drinks are great, food is on point. Staff is friendly. Charger is fast and well protected in a locked weatherproof box.

His version: after the dreaded “what do you want for dinner” conversation, followed by the “idk, what do we have to eat at the house” conversation, we (I) decided to stop here… while totally making it feel like we came to this decision together (because that’s what you learn how to do after 20+ years). The food is excellent, and portions are very generous. We both had a house margaritas, and shared a patron margarita. While both are good, I recommend going for the patron margarita; it’s most excellent, and she almost bought the “oh, you won’t like it… don’t even taste it” (but honestly glad she did). The Al pastor burrito I had was a different recipe than one of my regular places makes, but it is most excellent! Both of our entries were made exactly as we asked, substations for diet/allergy/health restrictions on both. While the Tesla Wall Charger was what pushed us over the edge to stop here, we’ll definitely be back again.

Speaking of the EV charger, it’s a 32a 250v NACS (Tesla) plug, but my understanding is they also have a J-1772 adapter upon request. Charging is free for guests, and more details are on my...
