We recently had dinner at Abacus Inn and were disappointed with the experience. The food quality has significantly declined. I ordered the orange beef with fried rice. The beef was overly breaded and tasted like it came from frozen, while the fried rice was unremarkable. The egg rolls, which were once a highlight, are now smaller and filled with mushy chicken—definitely not the same quality as before. My husband had the sautéed spicy beef, and his main issue was the lack of balance—there were far more vegetables than beef, and the spice overwhelmed the dish. The white rice was overcooked and had a pasty texture. Overall, the meal fell far short of our expectations, especially considering the standards Abacus Inn used to uphold.

So someone recommended me this place & also to my mom. Had high hopes. Came to try out their lunch special. Just not that great. Everything tasted different and greasy & oily. I got the egg drop soup and it was sweet. So weird. Never had egg drop that was sweet. My mom had the hot & sour soup & it was sweet too. Like how can that be! I got the chicken chow mein. It was okay. The noodles were good. The egg roll was so cooked and greasy, eww. Also there was like wontons or something and it was just fried, no cheese or anything in it. The rice tasted different too. They give you complementary tea.

Soo yummy and fills up your tummy 😋❤️. I remember how it was before the new management and most of the food is the same which is great but the egg rolls are gross now , the filling used to be real cabbage and other veggies and now i think its a paste that was fz 🥺. They have new items that are delicious like the pork ribs ❤️😋 and the service is always great ❤️ . But the restaurant before had mood lighting and more authentic artwork and plants to enjoy and talk about but now its white, bright and clean with TV's . Its just a different feel but the food is still yumm.

We had a good experience here. We ordered Beef Lo Mein, Chicken Fried Rice & Egg Rolls.

I'd give the food an A to A - and Service was A+ and respectful.

We went to the restaurant to order to-go & it was done very quickly. Hot & fresh.

The beef was very tender with a good amt of veggies (incld side of white rice was avg). The best part... it was NOT SWEET. I hate sweet Asian food & need to avoid sugar bc family diabetes issues. This was savory & good. Will order again.

Chicken Fried Rice was traditional & average with peas & carrots & scallion. Not too oily and actually had fried egg in it like it should. But I saw a broccoli piece in it. So cross-contamination with another dish possibly. Need to be careful with that. But will order again.

Egg Rolls: Yuck! They are large traditional sized fried egg rolls stuffed with cabbage and meat, but idk what kind (not white pork; not shrimp as is traditional - more like a ground beef). Not appealing. And the coating/flavor had cinnamon on it. I could not eat them. Very unpalatable to me and I wonder if the spice got on them accidentally, thru cross-contamination? If not, you should re-think that flavoring. Will not order them again and that's disappointing.

Our 2nd visit there was not as good. The food was average at best. The white rice was dirty with IDK what in it and the orange chicken dish has strong spices in it & same exact spices in veggie rolls too. Someone at this place is spice crazy. The wanton soup was soggy, broken noodles; broth was weak & kinda gross. Hardly any noodles but lots of raw uncooked carrots with shrimp. Not traditional at all- not even close. So maybe they are more like a...

I used to dine here twice a week back in the days of Noah, the previous owner. This place was a good option instead of the drive-thru. Quality, portion size, and service were all reasonably good, as was the warm ambiance of the dining room. The hostesses were polite and cheerful and the waitstaff was attentive. In recent years, however, it has lost its way under its new ownership. Food quality has suffered greatly alongside its shrinking portion sizes. Dishes that used to be served with hardy-sized shrimp have been reduced to popcorn-size quality and you'll have to hunt for those. All-meat dishes that were once served bountifully now include veggie fillers. Soups that had lots of meat and vegetables now have a few floaters in watered-down broth. Dang, even the in-house eggrolls are now of the frozen variety stuffed with gross fillers. Understandably, this place has had to endure the COVID period, however, it seems too focused on increasing profitability by lowering quality and quantity while increasing prices. This is the trifecta that usually puts the death knell in a small restaurant that no amount of redecorating will cure. The owners would do themselves well by getting back to the basics. Your dining room is empty for a reason! Oh, and BTW, you can keep the 20% discount you are offering patrons who will leave a review, this one is...

30 November 2014. At 6 PM three of us had our name added to the waiting list for a table. We and at least two other parties waited outside for our names to be called. The young woman at the counter was constantly on the phone taking to go orders. I watched for tables inside to become open and cleaned. After fifty minutes the waiter signaled to me that our table was about ready but then he seated a party of two who were waiting inside. This party of two had only been waiting for about ten minutes. I asked the waiter if he had checked the waiting list. He said that the party of two had been waiting a long time. I told him that they had been waiting for about ten minutes and we had been waiting fifty minutes. He asked the young woman at the counter who was still on the phone for the waiting list. She presented it and it became clear that he should have checked the waiting list before seating the party of two before us. I told him and the young woman that we would never come there again. I guess it doesn't matter because they are obviously too busy and don’t need our business. It’s sad that a waiter doesn’t know to check the waiting list before randomly...
