Fish King is a well-known establishment in the local area, attracting patrons with its seafood offerings and casual dining atmosphere. During my recent visit, I had the opportunity to sample various items on the menu, including the shrimp burrito, the not-so-fried rice, and the fried zucchinis. While the overall experience was decent, it was apparent that something has changed since my last visit, and not necessarily for the better.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the familiar, laid-back ambiance that Fish King is known for. The staff was welcoming, and the service was relatively prompt. I decided to order the shrimp burrito, expecting a satisfying, flavorful dish. However, I found it to be more like a wrap than a traditional burrito. The tortilla was thin, and the filling was rather sparse, which led to a somewhat underwhelming taste experience. While the shrimp itself was cooked adequately, the overall flavors and textures did not quite come together in the way I had hoped. The dish left me feeling unsatisfied and longing for something more substantial and flavorful.
On a positive note, the not-so-fried rice and fried zucchinis were both consistently good, just as I remembered from previous visits. The not-so-fried rice had a nice balance of textures and flavors, with a good amount of vegetables and mixed in. The dish was not overly greasy, which was a welcome change from the typical fried rice offerings at other establishments. The fried zucchinis were a highlight, with a light and crispy batter that complemented the tender zucchini slices perfectly. These two dishes were a reminder of what Fish King has been capable of delivering in the past.
Despite the satisfactory performance of these two dishes, it was hard to shake the feeling that something has gone downhill at Fish King. It is unclear whether this decline is due to changes in management, alterations in the recipes, or simply an off day for the kitchen staff. Regardless, it is disappointing to see a once-beloved local spot lose some of its luster.
To help Fish King regain its footing, it might be beneficial for them to revisit their recipes, ensuring that they adhere to the tried-and-true methods that made them a popular choice in the first place. Additionally, addressing portion sizes and the quality of ingredients could go a long way in restoring customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, my recent visit to Fish King was a mixed bag. While the not-so-fried rice and fried zucchinis were enjoyable, the shrimp burrito – or wrap, as it were – left much to be desired. The general feeling that something has changed for the worse at this once-great establishment is disheartening. I sincerely hope that Fish King can address these issues and return to the high standards that earned them their loyal following. In the meantime, I will likely explore other local seafood options and keep an eye out for any signs of improvement...
Read moreI've been to Fish King several times, but today was the first time I felt compelled to write a negative review due to how poorly I was treated.
I took a ticket and waited for my number to be called. My number was 88, but after about 7 minutes, the screen showed 89, and no one had called me. I said out loud that I was number 88, but no one acknowledged me. Then I saw an employee who seemed available and told him that my number had been skipped. Instead of helping, he brushed me off, saying he was busy with other customers, and walked away. Frustrated, I waited a few more minutes, and just as I was about to leave, that same employee returned and asked for my order. I ordered a fish, and he handed it to me--without a bag. At that point, I went back into the store to let him know I was really unhappy with how I had been treated: being bypassed and given a fish without a bag. Rather than apologizing, he gave excuses. He said that when he saw my number, he had two other customers and didn't have time to help me. But that doesn't explain why my number was skipped in the first place, or why no one else acknowledged me. Then, when I asked about the missing bag, he said they charge 0.1 cent for bags--but if I wanted one, he could give me one. That's when I knew he was lying. This was actually the second fish I had purchased today, and earlier, another employee had given me a bag without mentioning any charge. Clearly, the issue wasn't the bag--it was his attitude.
I'm very disappointed in how I was treated at Fish King. A business that sells quality fish should also treat its customers with basic courtesy and honesty. Being ignored, brushed off, and then given excuses and misinformation is unacceptable. Sadly, after today, I will not...
