Read moreIf a service has the word "RACK" attached to it, does that mean the service goes OFF too? I honestly don’t know if I can go through such an unpleasant experience again. I truly hope that the ringing employee is not a racist. I’ll just try to understand it as a lack of service-mindedness. While we were waiting in line and were called over to the register, a cute little kid blocked our way for just 2–3 seconds, causing a slight delay. Ms. Meri G. was already sighing at that point. When I said, “Hello, how are you doing?” she just stared at me without saying a single word. That’s fine — I came there to check out, not to chat. During the checkout scan, she asked for a phone number. I had already entered it at another store, but since it’s an international number, it didn’t help. So I said, “Not now.” When I explained that it’s a foreign number and couldn’t be processed anyway, she responded in a dismissive tone: “So you don’t have a phone number?” — as if accusing me of lying. Again, fine. I just wanted to pay and leave. After paying with my card, I said thank you, but she gave no response. Instead, she looked at me with what felt like contempt, then walked over to her colleague and started chatting. At that point, I wasn’t sure who the actual customer was — me or Ms. Meri G. We didn’t do anything rude or inappropriate, but she treated us with constant disregard. I will never use NORDSTROM RACK again, but the reason I’m writing this is to warn other foreigners — especially those of Asian descent — to be cautious when visiting this store. When I got to the register the cashier told me she couldn't sell me the shirt because the label was missing (not the price tag). I asked if I could find the shirt online and prove it was the same shirt, and she said I could look online, meanwhile she pulled the shirt up on her POS, and it was clearly the same shirt. Even though the shirts were clearly identical she informed me that she could not sell me the shirt (why bother pulling the shirt up in the first place????).
After I searched for the same shirt with a tag in the racks, I waited in line a second time to ask if they could call another store. The woman who helped me seemed helpful. She called, and a store in Texas said they had the shirt (the same one sitting behind the counter where I stood). I gave them my credit card information, email and phone, and she informed me that customer service would follow up with me to make sure they had the right info and hung up. I asked the person who was helping me in person who was going to follow up, and she called the store back and told me that they would send me an email or call my phone.
Needless to say when I got home, there was no email, I had not been called, and there was no transaction in my bank account history.
