Very disappointed at the hostess! When we got there she told us the wait was 15-20 minutes. 7 minutes later while standing right at the entrance a family came in and she told them the same thing. The woman asked her dad if it was okay with him to wait and they agreed to stay and wait for a table. One of the waiters who knew the family approached them and asked them if they had already put their name down and they said yes! They only waited about 5 minutes when that same waiter, who apparently knew them, discreetly escorted them to a table. I asked the hostess why they were given a table when we had arrived before them and she told me that they had a reservation. I said, that’s not true, they came in after us and they asked how long was the wait time and you responded 20 minutes. Why did you tell them that if they had a reservation and she denied it. She even had the audacity to give me the a random name (which you don’t give out due to privacy issues) and offered to show me the chart and I said what for? What is the chart going to show me? And she rudely said, “FACTS! That’s what it’s going to show you” I told her that was not true and that her behavior was very rude! She just giggled! She was so mad at me that when a table freed up she would not give it to us! The bus boy and the waiter went to tell her that it was available for us and she ignored them. When I asked her why she was not sitting us at that table she said, “Oh sorry! It’s reserved” and quickly went to put a “Reserved” card on it. Whatever happened to honest good customer service! She was very unpleasant and unprofessional and she is a liability to this restaurant! She abused whatever little authority she could get away with. I could tell she had preferential treatment for white people because she is white! Racist! It is always very upsetting when these kind of places ignore your presence, time and have no consideration for people. It’s all about who you know, how much they can make out of you and the color of your skin! It’s sad cause this place became my daughter’s favorite place after a few of her friends, long time customers, recommended this place to her. I am sure her friends and families will be very disappointed at this place after we tell them about our bad service experience! Their loss not ours! There is always Dona Maria’s in La Canada! Ten times better service and food quality is truly authentic and...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite spots for Mexican food. I came here with my husband on a Monday night for dinner at around 6 p.m. There weren't a lot of people at that time, but after about 30 minutes, it began milling with people. The restaurant has a downstairs and upstairs portion, so though it might look small/narrow, it does have some space.
If you've been to the Joselitos in Tujunga, this one seems a little smaller, less decorative, and not as extensive (or festive) menu wise. You still get your chips and salsa. The menu isn't pages long (like the Tujunga one), but rather a long double-sided menu. The prices felt comparable to me with both places. Another thing to note, I usually am on the lookout for deals (like margarita mondays or taco tuesdays), which the Tujunga location has and which is displayed on their sign when you enter. I didn't ask at this location, but i didn't see any such similar signage. You might want to ask when you go. :)
I got the traditional tostada with chicken. the chicken is shredded. It's a corn tortilla on the bottom of the plate, topped with beans, cheese, shredded chicken, shredded lettuce, guac, and sour cream. The tostada is huge. I opted for this instead of a salad since I wanted it to be more open faced (than a tostada bowl salad), plus I like shredded lettuce. This thing made me incredibly full! My husband got the machaca con huevos. basically, shredded beef with eggs and peppers. This was also good, but kind of felt like any other omelette.
We shared a bowl of the albondigas soup. Basically a light tomato broth w veggies and 2 meatballs. Ask for the...
Read moreI love Josalita’s food. I’m from Arizona and you cannot find a really good red chili with that real authentic flavor in California and I stumbled across Josalita’s a couple years ago and I’ve been hooked every since. Not only because the food is delicious. The service is wonderful I have a Disability, so I’m not really able to get out as much as I’d like so I have to have it delivered to me and they’re always able to work with my special taste and requests. Today Emily was the cashier hostess that helped me with my Order. She’s kind, considerate, compassionate, and the manager Ramon. I’m sure approved me getting my special sauce that I like the habanero It is a wonderful place to have some delicious food everything I’ve ever ordered on there menu is wonderful but my favorite go to is the chili, Colorado burrito wet style and husband loves the fish tacos. It’s a must try and a must-have. Once you go here you won’t want to go anywhere else even if you do go somewhere else you will always want go back to Josalita’s. I am very satisfied every time so I have to give my Big Up to the cooks as well or and even the owner because he also has helped me when I had questions in special request. All the staff that work at Josalita’s. Have a great customer service, and...
