My husband and I recently drove from Texas to California to visit family. Although I'm a native Californian, I had never been to "Jewel City Beads" before. It was my hope to attend the Basic Beading Workshop with my sister for her birthday, but she couldn't make it. I decided to attend the class by myself, and I'm so happy that I did! The store owner, Art, greeted me with a warm smile and a cheerful disposition. Not only did he provide me with a wealth of information about beads, he helped me to coordinate colors for my project. I chose to make a bracelet that consisted of three different types of beads. I was given the choice to make a necklace, but since this was my first class, I wanted to start off with something on a much smaller scale. My instructor, Lali, was very kind and personable. She explained the usage of all the tools and supplies very well. Unfortunately, I struggled with securing what's called a crimp bead and a crimp cover. My classmate (a first-timer as well) appeared to be a natural while putting together her necklace. On my third attempt with trying to secure the crimp bead plus cover, I became more and more frustrated with myself. I apologized to Lali for being a slow learner. She politely encouraged me to continue on because she felt that I would eventually get the hang of it. She also stressed that everyone learns at their own pace. Of coarse I knew this, but her kind words certainly helped to put me at ease. I really appreciated Lali's patience and repeat demonstrations to help me to complete my bracelet. The end result is quite beautiful and I really love it!! I've gotten many compliments on it as well. I will continue to recommend the store to others and plan to return in the near future. Thank you so much...

If you don't make jewelry yourself, you can come in, pick your beads and the staff can make it for you. Or you can also schedule a class with them and make it yourself.
Lots of different selections of beads, stones and findings. I usually come in with my center pieces to find unique beads to finish my products and their selection never fails me.
I'm looking forward to creating with what I picked up today and come back soon for a few other strands that caught my eye.
In today's take home we have: Raw Garnet Nuggets Yellow Jade Purple Agate Plated...
Read moreI asked owner if they have strech cord. He showed me what he called the silicone clear plastic stretchy cord, I said I’m looking for the one that’s wrapped in thread (paracord). That’s when he went off. “I don’t buy that, it’s what is used by us. This is more professional.” Me and my husband just looked at each other. And he just kept on but I just tuned him off. Just for everyone’s info about paracord and this silicone elastic, elastics becomes brittle in time then breaks which will splatter your beads. With paracord it will just become stretchy and looser in time but won’t break leaving your...
