Filthy Habit Pottery School is an excellent place to begin your ceramic education. I began with zero experience, repeated the level 1 class twice, and recently completed the level 2 class with Armand. He is a highly considerate, perceptive, and observant teacher who guided me through the transition from grasping the foundational principles, learning to accept my mistakes along the way, to creating intricate works that I love.
Moving from level 1 to level 2, I acquired knowledge in centering clay, various pulling methods, trimming, glazing, creating handles, crafting lidded jars, and other skills that aided in my progress within the craft. All of this would not have been possible without Armand's diligent guidance. The knowledge and education that he provides is absolutely worth every penny. I have fallen in love with ceramics and would highly recommend Filthy Habit Pottery School to anyone interested in trying it out for...
Read moreI couldn't be happier with my experience at this wonderful little pottery studio. Armand is a very patient and articulate teacher who puts an incredible amount of thought into how and when he teaches each concept. By his recommendation, I took the level one course twice to gain deeper familiarity of and comfort with the basics (centering, drilling, compressing, pulling, glazing, etc.). And now I'm halfway into the level two class and can't wait to take it again during the next session.
The classes are small enough that Armand is able to provide one-on-on attention to each student, and he's always able to offer a different approach if a concept isn't quite clicking. His infectious passion shows through every class he teaches. I'm so grateful to have started my pottery journey at this studio and I look forward to continuing to be a part of the Filthy Habit community for a long...
Read moreTeaching style is everything. I joined a level one class with some ceramics experience under my belt, but was blown away by how much I learned. Armand has a clear process for everything, and explains the why behind each step. He takes the time to ensure each student understands the technique before moving on. For the first time I felt like I could control the clay and throw intentionally.
Private lessons are the perfect sped-up version of a class, even for beginners. Armand takes care of all the prep and firing so you can learn to throw, choose a glaze, and take home a finished piece after it’s fired.
The studio is spotless, well organized and full of natural light. A total gem...
