Pete's Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Glendale

i genuinely cannot believe this place is so highly rated. i’d give it 0 stars if i could. i’m not here to bash anyone because we’re all different and we all like different things. i started liking fish and chips while on a trip to hawaii a while back, however, i’ve seen pictures before of pete’s “fish” and it was questionable from the get go for me. square? is this a glorified mcdonald’s filet o fish? i never went to try any of their food until today when my dad decided he wanted to go, he had been plenty of times as a teenager so i had small hopes for the other food they sell. while waiting almost 40 minutes in the drive through, i figured the food was really fresh and it had to be at least tasty or good quality if this many people were here to eat their food. right? no, wrong. the first irritating thing was while my dad was ordering for us, the girl went ahead and interrupted him and decided for herself that he was finished ordering and told him his total. he still had to order his food and he had to tell her to wait and that he wasn’t finished yet.... like at least ask the customer if that’ll be all like literally every other fast food employee? not a huge deal but still mildly irritating. then we get our food and head home. i opted out of the questionable fish and went for a burger, because how hard is it to mess a burger up? well evidently it’s possible and they’ve managed to do just that. the food, alongside being incredibly greasy and leaking through the packaging, didn’t even look appetizing. my burger had almost no taste despite there being “pete’s sauce” (which is basically a watery red sauce that’s supposed to resemble ketchup but it doesn’t), mustard, cheese and pickles. the burger was so low quality and had no taste that i had to put my own condiments on it- that’s how you KNOW a place has bad food- you shouldn’t have to doctor it up at home. now, yes, this place is incredibly cheap- but my overall consensus is that mcdonald’s food tastes way better than this. the onion rings had pretty much no taste either. it was odd on so many levels because the onions didn’t even taste like an onion. it’s hard to explain but it tasted like crunchy water with a tasteless batter coating. it’s so weird, how can you mess up a fried onion!? (i will say that my mom liked the fries.) i didn’t finish my food, i hated all of it. i would’ve rather gone to a quick line at mcdonald’s, gotten a mcdouble and would’ve been more satisfied with that than i could ever be with this. pete’s was a waste of time and i’ll never go back. if you value taste and quality, please don’t give...

Well, where do I start, DO NOT EAT HERE! I have been coming to Pete's since childhood and I recently stopped in today and waited a really really long time in the drive through. Although that wasn't the issue I was willing to wait. My issue is, for waiting so long I was expecting to get MY ORDER AND PERHAPS HOT IF NOT WARM but I was WRONG, it was COLD! I ordered 2 small meals. My burger had no cheese and was plain with nothing but a patty and onions. No sauce, no cheese, not warm or hot.. the fries were so cold they tasted like day old fries. My shrimps were so cold they were rubbery, not to mention how small the shrimp are nowadays & the change in the chips/French fries. These skinny shoe string fries aren't what you usually expect to get.. so I immediately turn around to take the food back and upon arriving we seen two other people returning their orders back as well. Because they didn't even get the correct orders. When I asked to speak to management, she refused to give a refund and said there is signs all over but with extreme attutude. There is also signs all over of the food you expect to get, but I did not get what i ordered especially what i paid for. She wanted to argue that our food wasn't cold & incorrect instead of just giving the refund back. We seriously just wanted our money back for the time and money wasted. She said they can only give us a credit or remake our order. I had to tell her if she's going to remake the order what else are you going to do or add for us long term consistent customers? She agreed to upgrade 1 of our meals, but upon receiving our re-made order they still managed to incorrectly make it which I then had to bring to their attention 1s again. They have a serious management issue that desperately needs immediate correction/action. Long term returning customers who've been supporting this location for years deserve better service & not conflict. If this is how you continue to conduct business me and my family will take our money else where. It's obvious that the food nor the quality of service isn't there anymore, sad to say good bye to a staple that once was. This is our second time coming here and to be honest it’s just not that great. I’m not sure what the hype is all about but it wasn’t that great at all.

The fish while it was hot, had no real taste to breading which would have made all the difference in the world. It was just very bland and something that I could have gotten at McDonald’s or any other fast food joint.

The shrimp was super tender but had no flavor for the shrimp or breading. And that makes sense as another reviewer showed that it’s just imitation shrimp that they have.

While the chicken had some flavor in the breading the quality of the chicken wasn’t great, very chewy which might have been from just sitting there and not being freshly fried.

To top things off, the gentleman at the register was staring at us like “are you ready to order” as we were standing back looking at the menu (since we were the only ones there needing to order). Then when we were ready to order and stepped up to the window, he’s talking with a coworker about who knows what and the coworker sees us but keeps talking. This went on for one to two minutes. Doesn’t seem like a big deal but at the same time there’s no reason to look at us and just keep talking without telling the cashier there is someone ready to order.

Overall this place has no met expectations of what everyone says. While the sauce is good, it doesn’t make up for our two experiences which have been bland,...
