I got terrible food poisoning from eating a meat stew at this place.
The waiter who was serving us didn't even know what kind of meat was being used in some of the dishes. H was confused whether it was lamb, goat or beef.
When we pressed him for clarification on one dish he told us that it was special goat meat imported from Nigeria.
The stew dish I received was spicy but the meat used was disgusting. Half of the food I couldn't even eat because it was giant pieces of meat cartilage and other leftovers that were inedible that were served for whatever reason.
Morning of next day I became terribly ill and vomited profusely without stopping. On my way to work I had to stop the car and run out of it. My situation was so dire that I fell on the grass and vomited all over the greenery. I was to weak to stand up so after vomiting I would crawl over to a cleaner spot and just belch up another spread of disgusting food there. When I was done purging my stomach of any food left there I began throwing up foamy white stuff. Needless to say I couldn't hold down any fluid or food for the entire day. Even after all my college times I've never been sicker or felt sicker.
I hope you've learned something from this short tale of mine. I don't think they import any goat meat straight from Africa at all and that is a euphemism for leftovers that even fast food can't sell.
tl;dr Horrible food poisoning. Don't even come within 50ft of this place, you may contract mysterious diseases...
Read moreWent recently. ( prior COVID, had always seen it but never opened when I was in the area ). My guest and I arrived, ( cold and windy outside). No one was there, so we seated ourselves and waited or someone to welcome us, wait on us. Finally the owner comes with one menu. We remark that it's cold in the restaurant and he leaves quickly to turn on the heat 🙄. Ok, food arrived, no water offered. Food was good but expensive. ( we've eaten African food before and my guest lived and taught in Nigeria before returning to the States). No wait staff, decor boasted nothing of Africa ( no photos, paintings, music) Well, music was so low, I looked around ( still empty) where it was coming from. A TV above the counter had an African video on). Several folk came to dine, left soon after and some picked up food. We were the first in and last to leave and it was close to 1 pm.) When the bill was presented we had options. Pay cash, no fee. Pay by credit card fee would be imposed. Not impressed, not returning. Suggestions: ' Welcome. If this is your first time eating African food, please allow me to offer some recommendations. Sorry, it's cold in here. I'll move the heater closer to you. I hope you enjoy the food and we look forward to your return.' ANY of those comments would have been good to hear. Had more conversation about the bill than our...
Read moreI've been coming here for a long time now, but unfortunately in the recent past, each time I buy food from here I tell myself its going to be the last time. The prices have sky rocketed, the quality has gone down, and the portion sizes are disappearing! However, I was there again today to buy some take out, and when I got home: 1/ The white rice and beans had ABSOLUTELY no stew on it. The goat meat turned out to be 2 pieces of skin (most likely cow), and 1 bone covered in fat. STRAIGHT IN THE TRASH. 2/ The pepper soup consisted of a handful of small bones covered in fat, 2 pieces of liver and 2 pieces of round intestine, that looked to have something on the inside! STRAIGHT IN THE TRASH. 3/ The amala and vegetable soup with assorted meat is in the fridge, because by now I had lost my appetite. This order cost me almost $75. Yes, you read that right. Needless to say, this will really be my last time visiting here. Beltway Plaza is a bit of a longer drive for me, but there is an African restaurant in there, that has much better food at half the price. I hope it's obvious that I'm annoyed - because I really...
