Pros Our server, Josh, was phenomenal. I had 18 people in my party and he did his best to provide prompt and accurate service. In addition, the live band created a jazz ambiance which was a great touch to the restaurant. Cons: I had originally reserved for a party table to accommodate 10 people. The person who I spoke with told me that as long as 80% of my party arrives within the 20 minutes of my reservation, they would be able to accommodate us. Therefore, I made sure that my group adhered towards the set time so I had people arrive at the restaurant at 6 pm instead of 6:30. Once I realized that my original party of 10 was going to be a party of 15-18, I called the restaurant to let them know to see if that was going to okay. The host verified that they were able to make the proper adjust. However, once I got there, things were the direct opposite. It was almost 7 pm when we finally got seated and they had the nerve to me that my party would have to sit at four separate tables. I was baffled because I specifically asked for a party table and if I knew we were all going to sit at separate tables, I would have reserve elsewhere. Yet, what was so frustrating, was that the group who got seated five minutes before my group were able to sit together in one section. So I spoke to two ladies (one was the host, and the other seemed to be the shift manager) at the front explaining to them that none of this made any sense. That I had guest traveling from Philly, Delaware and various parts of Maryland to celebrate my birthday at this Black-owned restaurant. With annoyance all over their faces, they stated they would see what they could do. However, I was not going to leave until the situation was solved. Remind you a section was open that could have accommodated my party. However, they sat a couple there. When I asked how come the couple was able to sit to there, the one resembles a manager stated because “they requested it” and that they needed to keep that section clear because another party was coming two hours after my initial reservation at 6:30. Now, it been over an hour since the time of my reservation, so I stated that my reservation was first. Because they made up some lie that they couldn’t move together was the reason why everything was taking so long. Finally, we got seated. Thankfully the couple that was seated at the section VOLUNTEERED to move a few seats down to help accommodate my friends. In the midst of all of this, before we were moved to a different section, one of the managers ASSUMED that a particular table was part of my party and told my boyfriend that they would have to move because they didn’t seat us there. Once my boyfriend told him they were not with us, he began to ask why we didn’t have any menus (trying to play it off that he looked stupid for making his assumption). To add on to this foolishness, three people who came late were not able to sit with us because once again the female manager said we could not combine a table. However, the party that they quote on quote said would be coming around the time of my party showed up TWO HOURS later and two tables that were seated in the middle (away from the booths) were combined for them. Food From the first entrée to the last entrée, it was 1.5 hour in between. The last dish was actually my dish which was strange since it was my birthday. The lobster mac and cheese and fried plantains was great; however, my party either complained that the food was too salty (shrimp and grits) or was too watery (arroz con pollo). Overall It is truly disappointing to see how this restaurant couldn’t use common sense to make simple accommodations, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE RESTAURANT was not busy. My party spent well over $500 at this establishment, but if I knew the service (minus my waiter) was going to be HORRENDOUS, my party and I could have supported another Black-owned business! Truly disappointed, but from their response, they...
Read moreI hosted a private event at Sobe Lounge on 10/8/2023. I spoke with management (Shawndra) regarding the private event, that included a custom menu.
48 hours before the event, I checked in to confirm our event details to be informed we did not have a private room. That our private event would be in general population in the restaurant.
Now why would we discuss a PRIVATE event, with custom menus, and want to sit in the public. I was upset and informed it would be an additional $390 to book the private room. We decided to use the general area due to the cost.
The same day, I spoke with an employee of the restaurant who showed me virtually where we would be seated. I informed them of the larger decor we had and I was showed a place where I could set them up. Upon arrival, I was told the decor is too big (Acrylic letters 5ft tall) and we cannot use.
I informed the staff from the beginning what decor we had. I was ONLY told, no glitter or things that can be hard to pick up. Keep in mind my reservation THOUGHT we had a private room which is why we purchased such decor.
I am incredibly disgusted by management. The miscommunications fell in their lap and MANAGEMENT did nothing to accommodate the inconvenience on their end.
I wish that was it, but it was not. We had sparklers for our cake, I asked if they could bring them out, I was told yes. Then told let me ask. Then told no. THERE IS NO CLEAR DIRECTION IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT. Management is horrible and is unclear as far as CONTRACT dealings and basic communication.
Lastly, our reservation was for 18. 16 people showed up. Because it was brunch, we had to prepay. I asked if we could use the remaining balance toward liquor instead of having to take food we do not necessarily need. They said no. I understand policy and procedure, but do to their MANY miscommunications, we hoped they would have accommodated us. The liquor/bottles we wanted to purchase cost more than our remaining balance which we were willing to pay. We wanted to get our true money’s worth. The establishment did not to accommodate us after inconveniencing us thoroughly. I will NOT BE PATRONING Here again. My Alma mater has used this location for events and I will be informing our Alumni Association, on campus sororities, and other locations to use another venue.
Our event was about $1,100. This establishment took $1,100 from us and did the bare minimum to...
Read moreThis was my first time here celebrating my Dads and brothers birthday. We had a 3pm reservation for brunch but did not get seated until 40 minutes later. We kept being told we were waiting while they cleaned some tables. This was the WORST brunch I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant. First, its called a Buffett brunch but when you go to get the food you have to wait for their staff to ration out the food on your plate. Two people serving the “buffet” line when there are 20 people waiting to get food. Needless to say it was GHETTO. The variety of food was disappointing very minimal choices. The omelets we ordered were served cold and you only get a half of waffle instead of a full one. In order to get crab legs you have to constantly get up to see if more has been put out. I wasted a lot of time walking back and forth because all the crab legs were gone and you have to wait for them to decide when to bring more out. Second can you pay an extra $10 for unlimited mimosas which was a joke! They were mostly orange juice and we had to hunt our waiter down to ask for refills. Our waiter was all over the place. He wasn’t attentive and seemed disheveled and inexperienced. I won’t be back here. I asked for sweet tea and he gave me unsweetened. When I told him he gave me the wrong drink he just said “ oh” and didn’t offer to get me the right one. They buffet was wack with limited food choices, food was rationed out by staff. I couldn’t understand why we could not get our own food or at least have ample staff to serve each dish. The customer service was not great even the hostess’ were unfriendly. We got the most attention when it was past 5pm. All waiters and waitresses came to take away our plates and glasses and kept asking if we were finished. You could tell they were ready for us to leave, but we were not rushing because we were not seated on time. Just saying this was the WORST AND I WOULD NOT WAIST MY MONEY GOING TO THEIR all you can eat brunch buffet because it’s some BS. The manager was not apologetic and non accommodating he should be ashamed to be in charge of running such a cheap scate establishment. This is why black business do not make it because of poor service and skimping on quality. $87 was wasted today. Of course gratuity was added which would not have been a problem if we had a good waiter. The only good thing I can say is that the shrimp and...
