This is my review based on working in the restaurant industry for many years. Starting with the hostess.
Upon entry, we were not greeted or met with a personable charm. It is a VERY small space with multiple large booths and a few small tables. We were denied a booth because it was only 2 of us, while there were multiple booths with parties of 2 and more seated after us. Many people came in who stood and were looked at multiple times by staff but never greeted or seated until quite a while.
I ordered chicken & waffles with fresh fruit. I got 1/2 a waffle, a very small chicken thigh & a chicken wingette. The “fresh fruit” was thawed frozen fruit and was not great at all. My husband ordered a 2egg & country steak plate with sunny side up eggs but they were slimy and raw. He then ordered crepes with fresh strawberries, it was soggy and the berries were half frozen. With that, and 2 drinks our total was an unbelievable $50. The food was okay, not anything worth $50 however.
There is wayyyy to many staff in the front of the house. The space can be managed by 2 maybe 3 servers tops but certainly not 4 + a hostess. It creates chaos and clutter in already small room.
My advice to the business, take your reviews heavily and reconsider for a long lasting business. Also, rethink your breakfast prices for your area and ambiance. It is a...
Read moreI really did want to like this place, unfortunately, I was disappointed. I would say the food is mediocre. I had the crepes and they were gummy, did not have much flavor, and did not come with sides. My husband liked his food, but it was simply eggs, meat, and toast. My daughter had the kid's pancake which is one medium sized pancake with no sides for over $6. The pancake itself was not light and fluffy like pancakes should be. The wait staff was friendly and although it looks clean from a distance, there are concerns. The tables are covered with a tablecloth with no glass or anything on top. They are not changed in between customers so there is no way the table is clean. I also saw on waiter pick a piece of bacon off of another table and flick it on the floor before putting another place setting down. I would say I would give them another try but seeing as they are very overpriced I do not think I will go back. I really did want to like it and came in with a very open mind but left feeling very underwhelmed. I do hope that they listen to customer concerns and improve...
Read moreFrench fry reviewer Fry Fieri here at Gloucester Pancake House! Onto the review. I did order ahead of time but the food was very fresh still.
French Fry style: Home Fries. Came with no seasoning on it, very soft though. I believe they expect you to season them yourself with the salt and pepper provided at the table; however, my to-go order did not come with salt or pepper. The edges were the most crispy and even that was barely crunchy. You can probably eat these fries with no teeth and still enjoy them. These fries remind me of fries I'd get as a kid at the carnival. If you prefer your fries soft, this is the place for you! Fries are a 6/10.
As for the chicken strips/tenders, they are breaded in-house it seems like. A lot of meat, very little breading, but still has a good crunch to it. The breading is I believe Panko Breading? This would go well with a sauce; however, they only supplied me with ketchup. As for seasoning, once again sadly, there is no salt or pepper or anything in them. They leave the breading to do the rest of the taste. It's rather bland....
