Castaways Vintage Cafe — Restaurant in Gloucester

WARNING: the online ordering menu says that multiple drinks are made with coconut milk, but they do not even have coconut milk behind the smoothie bar. My boyfriend, who has a severe nut allergy, ordered the OG smoothie because it says it's made with coconut milk (which he can have). I went to the store to pick up the smoothies, and realized that on the physical menu board it says the OG smoothie is made with almond milk. I asked the two women working behind the counter, and they said "we don't even have coconut milk here." Had I not looked at the board, my boyfriend would have unknowingly drank a smoothie full of almond milk. I showed my phone to one of the women working so she could see how the online menu shows incorrect ingredients, but she did not seem to care. So I'm posting this as an FYI for anyone ordering online with a nut allergy!!

this is the definition of a hidden gem. This cafe is snuggled in between old buildings and is tucked at the very back of a vintage store. There’s two entrances to this cafe but both are not handicap accessible. It’s surf shop themed and offers creative latte flavors for the different seasons. I got the toasted banana latte with almond milk and my boyfriend got the black raspberry mocha. He’s a big mocha fan and liked the mocha aspect of his drink, but wasn’t a huge fan of the raspberry. I however, LOVED my banana latte. I’m a huge fan of all things banana and was pleasantly impressed with this drink. The sweaters and clothes they have for sale are so dangerously tempting to buy! Of course I couldn’t leave this place without a sweatshirt which I can’t wait to wear throughout the year.

The place is cute and kitschy but there is far too many people working for the slow service and poorly made food. My bowl was melted when it showed up while my daughters was fresh. It’s like the hey left mine to sit. Then I had to ask for my iced coffee. They gave me a look like I annoyed them. There was literally 8 girls in the back, why aren’t they’re available so the one person at the register isn’t doing everything. I would recommend the food based on what we received looked fresh and though melted it had good taste. I would be cautious and quick to call them out if they falter on service.
